William Muse

William Muse was the ninth chancellor at East Carolina University. He was born in Mississippi and received a Bachelor's of Science degree in accounting from Northwestern State University in 1960. He earned an MBA in 1961 and a Ph.D. in business administration in 1966, both from the University of Arkansas. From 1984 to 1992, Muse served as president of the University of Akron. He then served as president at Auburn University from 1992 to 2001. He became president on August 1, 2001.
