William McDermott (Roman Catholic Bishop)

William Dermott Molloy McDermott (born 10 May 1930) is the Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Huancavelica, Peru. He was born in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland. He was ordained a priest on 5 June 1955 for the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, United States. On 19 May, 1976 he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop for the Diocese of Huancavelica and Titular Bishop of Thucca in Mauretania[1]. He was ordained a bishop on 4 June, of the same year. The Principal Consecrator was Bishop Enrique Pélach y Feliú; his Principal Co-Consecrators were Archbishop Alcides Castro and Bishop Florencio Romani, C.SS.R. On 14 January, 1982 he was appointed Bishop of Huancavelica. He retired on 18 June, 2006.
