William J. Northen

William Jonathan Northen, the two-term governor of Georgia from 1890 to 1894, was born in Jones County, Georgia, on July 9, 1835.
Northen graduated from Mercer University. He married Martha Neel in 1860 and served as a two-term member of the Georgia House of Representatives (1877-81). He also was elected to the Georgia Senate in 1884.
Northen died on March 25, 1913, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is buried in Oakland Cemetery.
