William Henry Draper III

William Henry Draper III is a prominent American businessman.
Draper is the son of banker and diplomat William Henry Draper, Jr., married to Phyllis Draper and the father of businessman Timothy C. Draper, actress Polly Draper and Becky Draper.
He attended Yale with George H. W. Bush, where he got 4 out of 4 GPA, a rare achievement, graduated in 1950, the year after George H. W. Bush, and was a member of Skull and Bones. Draper co-founded the venture capital firm Draper & Johnson Investment Company in 1962 and Sutter Hill Ventures. He was one of the founding investors in George W. Bush's Arbusto Energy in 1977 and was appointed as Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States in 1981 by President Reagan.
Draper was appointed as Administrator and CEO of the United Nations Development Programme in 1985. He manages Draper Richards, LP (a US Venture Capital Fund in San Francisco) and Draper Investment Company (an internationally focused family venture fund). He is a frequent donor to poverty alleviation programmes.
