William George Cubitt

William George Cubitt VC DSO (October 19, 1835 - June 25, 1903) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

He was 21 years old, and a lieutenant in the 13th Bengal Native Infantry, Indian Army during the Indian rebellion of 1857 when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.
On 30 June 1857 during the retreat from Chinhut, India, Lieutenant Cubitt saved the lives of three men of the 32nd Regiment at the risk of his own.
