William Davis Shipman

William Davis Shipman (b. December 29, 1818, Chester, CT - September 24, 1898, Astoria, NY) was a Federal Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He served on the court from 1860 to 1873. Judge Shipman was nominated to the court by James Buchanan on March 2, 1860, to a seat vacated by Charles A. Ingersoll, confirmed by the Senate on March 12, 1860, and received his commission on March 12, 1860. Judge Shipman resigned from the court on April 16, 1873.
