William Charles Chamberlain

William Charles Chamberlain (April 21, 1818- February 27, 1878) was a Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy, and sometime Superintendent at the dockyard, HMNB Devonport.
He was the eldest son of the diplomat Sir Henry Chamberlain, 1st Baronet, by his second wife Anne Eugenia née Morgan.
Admiral Chamberlain married (1) Elizabeth Jane (d. August 29, 1856), daughter of the naval officer, traveller, and author Captain Basil Hall, R.N. They had issue:
- Basil Hall Chamberlain (1850 - 1935), a Japanologist.
- Henry Chamberlain (1853 - 1923), a Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.
- Houston Stewart Chamberlain (1855 - 1927), the natural historian and author.
Admiral Chamberlain married (2) October 29, 1872, Sarah Morgan (d. December 29, 1921), daughter of Thomas Holroyd. They had a daughter, Harriett Sarah, who died unmarried on March 17, 1939.
