William Cawley

William Cawley (1602 – January 1667, Vevey, Switzerland) was a politician in seventeenth century England. He was born in 1602, the son of a wealthy brewer in Chichester, and was educated at Oxford University and Gray's Inn. He was elected Member of Parliament for Midhurst in 1640.
In 1649, Cawley was appointed to the High Court of Justice and signed the King's death warrant. He fled abroad at the Restoration in 1660 and died in Switzerland in 1667.
