William Caulfeild, 1st Viscount Charlemont

William Caulfeild, 1st Viscount Charlemont PC (1624 – April 1671) was an Irish politician and peer.
Born in Donamon Castle in County Roscommon, he was a younger son the 2nd Lord Caulfeild, Baron of Charlemont and Mary King. In 1644, he succeeded to his older brother's title. Being firstly a leading Parlamentarian under Oliver Cromwell, he captured Sir Phelim O'Neil in 1653 and executed him for rebellion. In 1660, Caulfeild changed his allegiance and supported afterwards as a Royalist King Charles II, for which he was sworn of the Privy Council. He was appointed Governor of Fort Charlemont for life in 1661, however sold this office to the Crown in 1664. On 8 October 1665, he was created Viscount Charlemont, in the County of Armagh. Caulfeild was buried on 25 May 1671.

In 1653, he married Hon. Sarah Moore, daughter of the 2nd Viscount Moore. They had six children:

- Hon. Toby Caulfeild (c. 1656–1718), married Rebecca Walsh, daughter of Oliver Walsh in c. 1689
- Hon. Mary Caulfeild (c. 1659–1724), married firstly Arthur Dillon, married secondly the 6th Lord Blayney, Baron of Monaghan in 1686
- Hon. Alice Caulfeild (c. 1660–1731), married firstly John Margetson, son of James Margetson before 1694, married, secondly the 1st Baron Carpenter on 23 January 1693 or 1694
- Lieutenant-Colonel Hon. John Caulfeild (1661–1707)
- Hon. Elizabeth Caulfeild (c. 1663–1694), married firstly John Chichester, married secondly Edward Walkington
