The centre of the village is Willerby Square, pictured left. Once a bustling centre of the village with traditional shops, this area is often referred to as "The Estate Agent Capital" of the area due to the overwhelming number of estate agents in the square. There still remains a couple of shops and bakeries in the square as well as the Willerby Methodist Church and a local pub just a few minutes walk away. As stated on a road sign, Willerby has been a community for over 1100 years. Its local Secondary School is Wolfreton School.

Willerby is surrounded to the east by the suburbs of Kingston upon Hull, to the south by the neighbouring village of Anlaby, to the west by Kirk Ella and West Ella and to the north by a couple of miles of agricultural land before reaching the largest village in the UK, Cottingham.

Willerby is situated within the UK Parliamentary Constituency of Haltemprice and Howden, for which the Conservative Shadow Home Secretary David Davis is MP. The local Conservative party association branch is based in Willerby, on Main Street. David Davis regularly attends Surgeries there.

Notable residents include Ian Moor, the Chris de Burgh impersonator who won the final of the television programme Stars in Their Eyes in 1999.
