Wilhelm Reinhard von Neipperg

Wilhelm Reinhard von Neipperg (May 27, 1684 - May 26, 1774) was an Austrian general.

He descended from an ancient family from Swabia, his father Eberhard Friedrich von Neipperg (1655-1725) having been an Imperial Field Marshal.

After fighting against the Turks in the 1710s, he renounced to the military career to care the education of Duke Francis I, the future Holy Roman Emperor. Appointed Field Marshal in 1733, he covered the Austrian retreat after their defeat at Krotska and negotiated the Peace of Belgrade (1739). Two years later, during the War of Austrian Succession, he commanded the Austrian army which was defeated at the Battle of Mollwitz by Frederick II of Prussia.

He died at Vienna in 1774.
