Wilfred von Oven (born 1912) was the former adjutant of Joseph Goebbels; he was living in Buenos Aires as of 2001.[1]
As reported, Oven fought with the Legion Condor, later in Poland and the Soviet Union during World War II. In 1943 the young Leutnant became Goebbel's secretary, until the end of the war. In a German TV documentary about the "Widerstand", he told about the July 20 plot events he witnessed. The Propaganda Ministry on the Wilhelmstrasse, with Goebbels inside, was surrounded by troops. Goebbels ordered Oven to check whether they could get out. Oven found a machine gun post in front of the door, denying any movements. Then Goebbels told him to check the phone, which still worked, a fatal error that lead to the failure of the plot.
