Wilfred French

Sir Wilfred Franklin French KCB, CMG (1880-6 December 1958) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Flag captain HMS Hood 1927-1929, CO 2nd Battle Cruiser Squadron (1931-1932), Vice-Admiral in charge of Malta from 1934 to 1937, KCB 1936. Was Admiral Commanding the Orkneys and Shetlands at the start of the Second World War. Forced to retire after the loss of HMS Royal Oak, despite having warned of the dangers of attack, and posted to Washington.
