[edit] Quiz Comedy Co.
The youngest comedy troupe in the world, Quiz Comedy Co. has only been together for 6 months and is already very successful, writing jokes for television shows on NBC such as "The Office" and "My Name is Earl". Consisting of two members, 13 year olds Wilson Carlisle and Mitchell Wilkinson, Quiz Comedy Co.'s story is somewhat of a legend.
[edit] Early Years
An 11 year-old Wilson Carlisle was relocated to Texas after his father received a new job as a Wal-Mart greeter. Carlisle then began attending San Jacinto Elementary, where he met 11 year-old Mitchell Wilkinson. The two were both in the Gifted and Talented program, where they discovered that they each had a knack for telling jokes that were on a higher level than other children's. They became friends and began spending the night with each other regularly. There, they wrote comedy sketches, where one eventually became episode 18 of The Office. The other sketches were performed in local coffee shops and school talent shows, where they found adults enjoyed them as well as kids their age. "Though we were aiming the jokes at the kids in the audience, the jokes went well with both the parents and kids alike", Wilkinson said after their 5th grade school talent show, where they performed an Abe Lincoln sketch similar to the Whitest Kids U Know. "Some jokes we would make at school... no kids were laughing, but the teacher was secretly snickering to herself." Another excellent thing about the jokes written by the boys was that they were all very appropriate on any level of comedy. No cussing, no sexual content, but they always remembered to bring the funny. After a sketch at the Spring Carnival an adult asked the boys if they were willing to write a commercial for Verizon Wireless. Before Co-Directing the commercial, the CEO of Verizon told the young boys that three groups (The regular Verizon Writers, Wilkinson, and Carlisle) could not "tri-direct" a commercial, and that they simply had to think of a group that Wilkinson and Carlisle would be in together. So they created the name "Quiz Comedy Company" because that day they were missing a quiz in math class. They went on to finish the commercial and thus, "Can you hear me now?" was born.
