[edit] All gone?

Does this mean you're resigning? I don't get it. Jwiley80 17:04, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Hoping that the comment that I made to dovetail into your statements on Talk:Missional living were not a cause of grief. Odd thing is, the debate there hasn't produced any substantive changes to the article to try and make it more "Neutral". Not sure why. Do come back!Brian0324 20:35, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP Christianity

Hi, I saw your name on the WikiProject Christianity Membership page.

I've made some changes to the WP Christianity main project page, added several sup-project pages, created a few task forces section, and proposed several more possible changes so that we can really start making some serious progress on the project. Please stop by and see my comments on the project talk page here and consider joining a task force or helping out with improving and contributing to our sub-projects. Thanks for your time! [edit] Where y'at?

I was having such a hard time handling your sarcasm, but I've just read that you're from New Orleans. And somehow reading it back in a YAT accent helps. I don't know if you have one or not, but it helps. Like, my mom, she's a sarcastic YAT. I'm an expat living in Canada now and I've learned a whole new way of negotiating that surprisingly doesn't involve sarcasm. But, I just may be willing to devolve. I appreciate you moving that quote but it was 74.245.186.39 who edited it. Just so you know, I have only ever done anything on here signed in under my name. I've never even signed out from the first time I logged in to add my input. I think you've assumed I've been sneaky (sock-puppet). But I assure you, I hide nothing. DEZnCHRIS (talk) 05:45, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

But now that I've read what you wrote on my talk page... I'm enjoying this new dialogue.

I don't disagree with what evangelicals believe either. I was one for years. My family is evangelical. I attend a pentecostal church that I am very active in and enjoy two Bible studies with lively discussions from our varying perspectives. My bias against some evangelicals is that when you see things from that perspective, it all seems to fit so perfectly that the very notion of questioning it seems like heresy. And so for many evangelicals, they feel they can attack my very right to dare to question things. I used to be like that too. Because their very soul was at stake. And so out of love, I could be relentless. What I've found now is that there is another way to look at things that does actually fit the letter of the book of law. I know that emergents like to say that it is a move away from literalism, but it really is a more holistic view of the Bible. It doesn't pull things out. I draws things together. And it fits too. (Of course, I'd say it fits better and more literally) Anyway. Good night. DEZnCHRIS (talk) 06:00, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi again, Will. I was wondering if when you tagged the EC article with the source tag, if you meant to tag it with a citation needed tag. Or is this article being used as a source? I find the big box unattractive. But I'll leave it to you. DEZnCHRIS (talk) 18:19, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Will, I've changed usernames. Hope this doesn't cause confusion. Lyonscc changed the box at 11:31 April 4. If you view the page before that, you'll see what was there. They must have assumed the same as I had. "Source" was in double brackets instead of "fact".Affinity likely (talk) 17:17, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ECM Article

I agree on your mediation approach. My apologies for any belligerence on my part.

As someone who often deals with Ken Silva and other 'discernmentalists', the article you've linked bears the same broad-brush strokes which describe parts of the ECM (particularly those related to Emergent Village), but does a disservice to thousands of other Christians in the movement from more conservative church backgrounds. Your arguments re: epistimology miss the mark in this regard. It is much fairer to say that the ECM rejects systematic theologies (which much older movements, like the 1800's Restoration Movement, from which church background I come). It is often this rejection which is extrapolated to rejection of truth in scripture. Certainly there are ECM figures who go to far, but there are also those who stay well within the boundaries of scripture.--Lyonscc (talk) 22:29, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I understand your point on the poor sourcing in some Wiki articles - I try to address it when a) I see it, and b) I have the time - which is not all the time. I also agree that we probably have a lot we would agree on. If you'd like, feel free to stop by and chat on the group blog I manage at http://christianresearchnetwork.info/ --Lyonscc (talk) 23:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I am a little out-of-pocket the next few days, but I will see what I can do for you. I would note from personal experience that Dan Kimball, Scot McKnight (whose paper on the ECM is probably the most fair and balanced I've seen on the movement) and Bob Hyatt (the senior pastor of Evergreen church in Portland, OR http://bobhyatt.typepad.com/) are all very approachable and willing to answer questions/give critiques. Bob has contact with a number of prominent ECM figures, as well, and is the general editor of the ezine NextWave. He has also been critical of some of the more liberal-spectrum ECM figures, including Spencer Burke.
Erwin McManus is also a figure often associated with the ECM, and I believe that he would not 'fit the mold' re: ecclesiology.--Lyonscc (talk) 03:39, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Anonymity

Hey Will3935. I apologize, I should have used more discretion in disclosing that information and completely understand your request. There are definitely a lot of strange fellows out there and you shouldn't have to be fearful for voicing your opinions. I hope your health improves. I'm planning to become a GP at the moment but you never know where God will lead next. God Bless. Gold Dragon (talk) 10:15, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
