[edit] Hi... welcome etc...
And if you need help on the reference formatting on the Oregan Hoskins aerticle, give me a shout. I did a sample reference format on the Reuters new story citation. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 21:57, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Reply to your message (and sorry about the delay)
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. (Had a technical problem with my computer which left me with out the Internet for a day.) OK, the "m" means that it is a minor edit. When you are submitting a change, you might see the "Mark edit as minor" box beside the Save page button. Normally (and in my case, only when I remember to click the box) edits that don't really change the article content significantly - for example fixing a spelling mistake or adding a link to another article - can be marked minor. It doesn't really make too much difference if you mark it as minor or not, but if you look at the recent changes page, there is an option to hide minor edits so they won't be shown.
The number shown shows how many characters have been added or subtracted from the article: how big the edit is and if it is adding or taking away from the article. A big number would attract attention on the recent changes page as it is sometimes a sign of vandalism.
Hope that helps. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 01:54, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
