Stephen A. Wilkus lives with his family in New Jersey where he works at Alcatel-Lucent. He graduated in 1981 with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a BS degree in Physics in 1979. Steve took a minor in Philosophy and Anthropology with special interest in the philosophy and history of science.

His thesis work was on surface acoustic wave devices, electronic filters used in televisions and cellular systems. He developed simulation software and designed many such devices while at Andersen Laboratories in Bluefield CT (now Micro Networks), RF Monolithics in North Dallas, Tx and AT&T Bell Labs in Merrimack Valley, Ma and Holmdel, NJ. Steve currently works in the mobility business unit of Lucent Technologies.

e has published several journal and symposium papers and has been an invited speaker in the fields of Radio Frequency electronics, wireless communications, he holds over 8 patents and is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Stephen Wilkus was an early contributor to the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN standard and other wireless standards efforts.

Steve is interested in learning curves and low-cost manufacturing methods and trends such as the cost trends of mobile phones and cellular systems. He, his wife and two children enjoy international travel and thoughtful correspondence.
