He was a mercenary captain of Flemish soldiers.

During the middle ages claiming someone was a mercenary does not mean the same as in the modern era. Who says he was a mercenary? What made him a mercenary? For example was he paid more than others? Did he pay homage to King Stephen of England? --Philip Baird Shearer 08:46, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
