He claimed to be able to trace his ancestry back to the legendary Irish warrior and Ard Rí (High King of Ireland), Brian Boru.

Brian Boru is hardly legendary: he existed if any historical personage did. And is such a claim really notable? Unless he made a big big deal out of it, isn't this what any Irish person of that day with the name O'Brien would believe? --Saforrest 20:48, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

His ancestry played a very big part in both his personal life and political career. Anyone who has read anything of this period in Irish history would know that? --Domer48 17:22, 12 June 2007 (UTC) P.S. It was more than a mere claim!
