He was not succeeded by a title, he was succeeded by a person. "The Baron Wentworth" is not a person, it's a title, that's why it's not appropriate. Wjhonson 17:22, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

No the Baron Wentworth is a title. The person never had this "name". Linking to articles based on titles is silly, nowhere else in wikipedia do we allow this sort of masking. Wjhonson 19:41, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

"Lord Wentworth" is a name, and is how peers are referred to. It is also a title. Additionally, this is how we have done it for a long time. it should be done systematically. Also, names like William Wentworth, 3rd Baron Wentworth, or whatever, are extremely awkward in succession boxes. I wouldn't object to some sort of masking that includes given name and title, but the full Firstname Surname, #th Peeragerank of Title in succession boxes would be annoying. And, at any rate, this is something you should try to change systematically, not by changing some (but not all!) of the succession boxes o n a single page. john k 20:21, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

It is not how peers were referred to at the time. Piping adds a level of confusion the average reader cannot navigate. It is an unencyclopedic masking. No encyclopedia masks one name behind another, it would make it impossible to cross-reference. Paper versions of wikipedia are impossible to use for this reason. Wjhonson 19:42, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
