[edit] Adjectives

Two separate editors have replaced "New Zealandic" with "New Zealand" and "Californian" with "California", which I have undone.

This may seem pedantic, but actually I think that it is more correct to use the adjective rather than creating a compound noun here. « D. Trebbien (talk)

Californian is one thing, but New Zealandic seems to be an invention, the usual adjective is New Zealand, see for example the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography, whereas the Australian equivalent is Dictionary of Australian Biography. I've never seen New Zealandic used in any otehr context. Further examples are Royal New Zealand Navy, as opposed to Royal Australian Navyand Royal Canadian Navy (airforces are the same), even category:New Zealand entomologists as opposed to eg category:British entomologists. Thanks for the examples. I'm fine with New Zealand, then. « D. Trebbien (talk) 19:47 2008 May 14 (UTC)
