[edit] Date of IM title
Tim Harding's chesscafe The Kibitzer column says Fairhurst was awarded the International Master title in 1953, but this is probably wrong. Jeremy Gaige, Chess Personalia says 1951, which agrees with the list of IM titles awarded by year given by Sunnucks on page 238. Finally, Whyld's Chess, The Records also has 1951.
