It would be advisable to give the speed of the original rotary printing press constructed by Richard March Hoe for comparison. German Wikipedia mentions one Augustus Applegath (*1788, †1871), British inventor, who together with Edward Cowper is said to have built a rotary press for The Times, finished around 1850. This press, it is said, was able to print 8,000 sheets an hour.
