Talk:Willard Decker

I always thought the characters name was "William Decker". Mirlin 02:03, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
- I just remember hearing "Will Decker". Guapovia 13:25, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- He was called "Will" in the movie. The name "Willard" is from the promotional materials for the film, including the advanced one-sheet movie poster, in which Collins' credit is "Stephen Collins as Willard Decker". Its generally assumed that "Will" as used in the movie was short for "Willard".--12.162.189.80 20:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Succession box
Decker was followed as Captain by James T. Kirk, not Spock. Kirk was shown as in command at the end of Star Trek: The Motion Picture after Decker had merged with V'Ger, so it would be more proper to list Kirk as the Captain who followed Decker, regardless of how long or short Kirk was in command of the refitted Enterprise.

- I assume Decker's captaincy is usually overlooked since, based on screen evidence, he never actually commanded the ship on an active mission. By all appearances, he was the ship's captain only during its refit. --12.162.189.80 20:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- Kirk is not the Captain of the Enterprise during the V'Ger incident, he is an Admiral in Star Fleet who takes command of the vessel because he is the highest ranking officer. Spock indeed succeeds Decker, because he is the Captain of the Enterprise in 'Wrath of Khan'. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.193.227.46 (talk) 06:09, 16 January 2007 (UTC).
