[edit] Legolas / Turner.

Just wanted to let you know that also in Italy the man who dubbed (voiced?) Will Turner is the same who dubbed (voiced?) Legolas. That is because in Italy we prefer to provide the same dubber for all the characters portrayed by the same actor, in order to let the public understand which actor is speaking even if they don't see him/her.

[edit] This Article Really Needs Editing.

You know, since the new movie came out and all. I saw it, and a lot of the facts on the new movie on this page really need updating.

Can someone tell me where they got all those facts about the last scene after the trailer? I don't believe we know what the name of the kid is. And I have heard that the Curse of the Flying Dutchman is broken after ten years of faithfulness, but I have yet to find a credible source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.40.254.13 (talkcontribs) 20:59, 26 May, 2007

*The credits for World's End do include a "Young Will Turner." This may be where the assumption that the child's name is Will Turner III comes in.
*As for the breaking of the curse, I don't know of any sources which confirm or deny that. Kail Ceannai 23:11, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

The ending of the last paragraph of the "At World's End" section needs to be deleted. No such interview with writers "Ted and Terry" has never been found, and is leading many to the wrong conclusions on the film's ending.Foofighter32 05:49, 29 May 2007 (UTC)FooFighter32

http://www.wordplayer.com/forums/moviesarc08/index.cgi?read=98135 - This is where the writers talk about the 10 year rule. Many thanks from Angua9 of which whose livejournal is a compendium of fun!

[edit] Wills Anti Pirate attitude

For one with such a bleak look on pirates Will seems to be well on the way of becoming one himself. He works very well with the crew. I think whoever did their research for the Traits section needs to think more about character development over the films. Technobabble1 18:01, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Too true. Has anyone even noticed how more of a pirate Elizabeth is than Will. He may be the son of a pirate but he sure doesn't act like it. Perhaps it is Will's fear he will lose Elizabeth because she is becoming more pirate-like, thus being more attractive to Jack, that turns Will enter Davey Jones so he can become a true pirate.[Nick Mourn]

[edit] wow I AM MAD

someone deleted my facts about will'

AND THEY wEre VErY GOOD

goodness gracious

Why don't you put them back in. Just because one person decides to remove them, does not mean they should have been taken out in the first place.PNW Raven 17:25, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia Entry

I moved the comment about the captain of the ship sunk by the Lusitannia from the first paragraph to the Trivia section. It seemed a more appropriate location for it. I hope everyone's OK with that. PNW Raven 20:42, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

The POC: DMC section was vandalized. I restored the original text, but please keep an eye on this page.PNW Raven 17:23, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photos

There are three nearly identical photos of Will Turner on the main page. They really don't add anything to the article. Can someone add different ones? PNW Raven 15:49, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Is it just me, or does the picture of Will at the top look a bit stretched? --Arwen undomiel 21:20, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Any way, my friend works for Disney and he says that the first draft of the script, aka the leaked script, was more like a rough draft than what Disney says. So expect to see large chunk of the leaked script to happen, anyways it's pretty obvius now that you've seen the trailer. He didn't specify on exactly what scenes will happen but the scene of Bootstrap killing Norrington in the leaked script is out but he didn't say whether Bootstrap indeed was going to kill Norrington. Also the possibilities of POTC 4 are still up there but he says it is unlikely with the loss of Knightely and Bloom definitly certain. He did mention some things that did shock me. He mentioned discussions on animations of POTC and possibly straight to dvd POTCS.--[Jeremy Stevens]

Here is something interesting I noticed in the trailer. I was watching on the internet and in the scenes that introduce Orlando Bloom there is a scene of Will that has him wearing a bandana over his head. like Davey Jones, and having a sinister look and standing in what looks like the Flying Dutchman , there's seaweed hanging from the sails and the rudder and back part of the ship looks like it is covered in coral and barnacles. I think somehow Will has turned into Davey Jones. I personally have the theory that Jones steals Wills body for his own need such as pursuing his love interest in Tia Dalma, if she indeed is Calypso. Another scene that introduces Keira Knightly has her turning around to see something behind her, you don't see what it is though, with men behind her cheering at something and the ship they are on looks also like the Flying Dutchman.--[ Nick Mourn]

[edit] Confusion Over Origins

It's repeatedly stated that Will is from England, but the timeline article says that both he and Bootstrap are from Glasgow. The problem being? Glasgow isn't in England - it's in Scotland.

What's wrong?

[edit] Source for why Will needs the Black Pearl to rescue his father

In the third movie we hear Will Turner state that he needs the black pearl so he can defeat Davy Jones and save his father. The summary of Pirates 2 here states that Will believes he needs the Pearl to save his father. Although the Black Pearl can outrun the Flying Dutchman I don't remember anything about the Black Pearl being able to defeat it. In fact it loses to it when they battle. Where in the story does Will Turner get this belief?

No, he needs it to get to the Dutchman, then so he can open the chest and stab the heart, thus, he becomes captain of the Flying Dutchman. He never said anything about needing it to defeat the Dutchman, just to save his father, that's all. Captain Drake Van Hellsing Savvy? 07:04, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Actually, Will does come out and say, "I need the Black Pearl to free my father." It is also said that the Black Pearl is the only ship that can catch the Dutchman, though Will does not state that this is why he needs it. It's only a very good guess. Darkfrog24 17:58, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ten years vs. indefinitely

The impression that I have regarding the end of the third film is that Will is to remain captain of the Dutchman indefinitely (or at least until someone gets past Elizabeth and stabs his heart). The deleted scene definitely deserves a mention, but I feel that we should either say that Will is stuck there forever or at the very least that said scene does not appear in the film. Darkfrog24 16:12, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

72.129.20.231 put down a point about sunset, but actually, if he gets one full day, then it lasts from sunset to sunset, and it doesn't in itself say whether or not Will is freed.Darkfrog24 19:57, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Character's fate post-movies

In the interest of avoiding an edit war, I'd like to state my reasons for including a section on what happens to Will after the movies end. I believe we should mention both the writers' original intentions for the character -- the deleted scene explaining that Will would get to go home after ten years -- and the fact that this scene was not included in the theater cut of the film. Considering that this article is about the character and not about the movies themselves, I think his final fate is relevant. Darkfrog24 01:54, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Two Questions

My first question is, is it known if Will got to spend an eternity on land or is he still bound to the Dutchman? My second question is, what happened to the Will is the best swordfighter in the series has that been discredited or what?--The K.O. King (talk) 01:49, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

In the 2-Disc Limited Edition of the DVD, there is a paper that answers some of the most frequently asked questions. It says, "Every ten years, Will may step on land for one day. He is bound to the Flying Dutchman forever." So the answer to your first question is the Dutchman. As to your second question, that's a matter of opinion, and everyone, including the cast, crew, and viewers of the movie will have different opinions. Grey Maiden talk 02:17, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A very stupid change has been made

Someone has replaced the entire article with a single sentence that reads "Will fall in love with new charicter in Pirates of the carribean 4 drop elizebeth and sail off with ....." Does the entire article now have to be redone, or does someone actually have a copy? Immblueversion (talk) 17:21, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
