According to Wil Haygood, author of "In Black and White, the Life of Sammy Davis, Jr.", Will Mastin was born in Alabama in 1878.

[edit] Uncle or "Uncle"?

Was he really brother to one of Sammy Davis Jr.'s parents, or just a close friend? In the S.D. Jr. article 'uncle' is in quotations. He also does not share any name with either of Sammy's parents. Personally I'm not willing to become an amateur biographer or such a small thing, but if any wikipedians happen to know the answer or have access to a good biography they can check could they please post? --Museerouge 09:20, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
