[edit] Incorrect use of the word "remit" in second paragraph of the article
Judging by the context, I believe the author was trying to use a word which means 'sphere of influence" or 'bailiwick'. His/her choice of the term 'remit' likely represents a phonemic error, with the appropriate word actually being 'ambit'. Since English is not my first language, I will defer to the experts here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaussgauss (talk • contribs) 03:41, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- A quick look in the Concise Oxford Dictionary gives "the task or area of activity officially assigned to an individual or organization". The word "ambit" is rarely used in modern English. Greenshed 21:10, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
