Talk:Wilf Lunn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Err. I was born and brought up in Huddersfield and I have never heard of Wilf Lunn. Can we have some cited sources please. -- Chris j wood 22:57, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
Wilf was on children's TV quite a bit from the early seventies until the mid eighties, but has kept a rather lower profile recently. For citings, try the BBC website, Eureka or Vision on or the British Film Institute Vision on. I had a BBC Vision on book many years ago, but afraid my mother binned it. Wilf is alive and well and still resides in Huddersfield. --Thozza 19:43, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
Wilf also taught in 1986 at Almondbury High School as an Art teacher--Benneh 01:41, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] link to Wilf Lunn website
I have to disagree with Richard Harvey about the removal of the official Wilf Lunn website. The guidance on external links is quite clear in Wikipedia:External_links:
'What should be linked - 1) Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site if any.'
with the proviso that:
'Links to be avoided - 5) Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services, or to sites with objectionable amounts of advertising'
Although the site does have a modest amount of advertising, the same could be said of many 'official' websites for performers and bands (for example Ian Macmillan is advertising his latest book on his official site which is linked to).Thozza (talk) 18:07, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- As a fan of Wilf Lunn I appreciate your concern. My removal of the link was purely based on experience of multiple removals of similar links. I have previously posted up similar links and then gone through the process of being advised about spam links and also self promotional websites. I suggest you place a query on Wikipedia talk:Spam regarding the suitability of the link where Admins more experienced in the finer aspect of links will then determine if it suitable or not. Note though that the website has sales of items on the home page, where his registered company address is also displayed:- (Wilf Ltd - Reg No. 4821019 England - Reg Office: Hirsel, Jumble Wood, Huddersfield HD8 0AN) which shows it is a commercial website. Further sales of items exist on at least one other page:- Bicycles. Apart from item 5 on the Links normally to be avoided item 11:- Links to blogs and personal web pages, except those written by a recognized authority. is also brought into question, as Wilf himself edits the website.
