[edit] Your (Atulsnischal) article Wildlife of India
Dear Atulnischal, I'm not sure what grand plan you have in mind, but copying the section on Flora and Fauna from the India page and pasting it to create a new article and then referencing it on the India page itself requires some explanation. "Wildlife of India" deserves an article in its own right, "Wildlife of India" is a popular term that people look for and search for on the internet, school kids, nature lovers and people who want to go on nature and eco-tourism trips etc. General people and younger generation looking for Info on Indian wildlife do not look for scientific and little known and boring words like Fauna or Flora or terminology like Protected areas of India etc. All this can be brought together under "Wildlife of India" article by a popular and commonly used and searched name. As per the content of this article: everybody is free to edit and add info on it.
Thanks, sincerely

[edit] Merge ?
The WWF changed its name from World Wildlife Fund to Worldwide fund for nature because wildlife was a word not unlike game or big game. Fauna of X and Flora of X is the standard title followed by all other country articles. I cannot see why this exception. Would suggest that this should be made a redirect to Fauna of India and additional content merged into that article. Shyamal 08:53, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
No your seeing the aim of them. The wildlife article should be seen as a aprent article above the Fauna of series as they should summarize fauna and flora and conservation etc all aspects of nature in that country -the entire biota of that country. In the summarized sections they should then then branch out into the Fauna of ... etc. We need articles that summarize wildlife for each country. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 11:55, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- This seems like a lot of duplication, because every country article also has fauna and flora introduction and they then have main articles on fauna and flora. See, for instance the excellent featured articles such as Fauna of Australia. Wildlife_of_Australia redirects to Fauna. Shyamal 17:02, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
This article is a good piece. I like it. Trouble is that it reads like a newspaper article. Right now it focuses on all the well known fauna, the ones in the news. Sensationalism... in an encyclopedia this has no place. Where are the references to the smaller wildlife that are in trouble. As an encyclopedic article this gives a terribly one sided view of Indian wildlife. Also as this page grows it is going to compete with Fauna of India for information. Been here for ages and I can tell you that information is going to be duplicated from one to the other. Soon a merge articles will be called for, and at the point 2 huge articles will have to be merged. I think it would be wise to keep the Wildlife of India article (maybe a more balanced one) as a preface to the bigger pictures of this glorious and rich country of ours. --Viren 01:57, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
