"Cloud: Wild Stallion of The Rockies" is an episode of Nature's twentieth season, which premiered on PBS on November 4, 2001. The episode documents the first few years of the life of a wild pale Palomino stallion. Filmmaker Ginger Kathrens was already filming other wild horses in the mountains of southern Montana when she happened upon a newborn colt, which she named Cloud for his striking white color. Regular visits to the area brought Kathrens in continual contact with Cloud allowing her to follow the wild stallion through his life. After four years of filming, Kathrens pitched the idea to executive producer Fred Kaufman at Nature. Two years after this episode was first broadcast, a follow-up episode aired titled "Cloud's Legacy: The Wild Stallion Returns".
