Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost/2005-04-18/Andrea Dworkin death

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FYI, "blogger Joe Gratz" is me. The only reason I figured out that Wikipedia had the scoop was because I'd read the news on sivacracy.net (a post by Ann Bartow, a professor plugged in to feminist academic listservs) and had hopped to the Andrea Dworkin article to update it with a date of death, only to find that it was already taken care of. --Dreamword 23:56, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia's level of journalism is quite low

I would like to applaud Wikipedia for its scoop, but I cannot. Part of the reason is that I have had a lot of communication with Catharine MacKinnon about Andrea since Andrea's death and she was quite disappointed with Andrea's article. The other problem is that Wikipedia's level of journalism is so low that I doubt that many readers took Wikipedia's claim of Andrea's death seriously. In balance, the coup fo scoop was kinda poopy. Gotta work on that credibility issue some more. -- Pinktulip 12:23, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
