Wikipedia talk:WikiProject buses/Bus route list guide

Is it necessary to write a manual of style page for this? >Radiant< 16:18, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's a formatting guide for the WikiProject, in part to provide a consistent format, to ensure that articles include history and not just the current status, and to ensure that redirects from minor routes work properly. There's an actual manual of style subpage for highway exit lists; I'm not even proposing this a MoS subpage, just a subpage of the project. --NE2 16:26, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

- Up until yesterday, it was just a subpage of the U.S. Roads WikiProject. It was moved because some users took issue to tagging it as a {{guideline}} when it lived in WikiProject space. -- NORTH talk 17:47, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

- I got a layout on how to do London Buses. Maybe we can use that as a basis for others. The layout's at User:web_kai2000/London Buses route layout.--sonicKAI 23:31, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

- Isn't some of that, like the frequency and times, subject to change pretty easily? If we include the present status, we should also include the history, which would make for several paragraphs of minor frequency changes. The fares are probably also better handled on a single page that talks about bus fares on the entire system. --NE2 01:18, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

- Fair enough. If our manual of style describes highway exits it can certainly deal with bus routes as well. I'd suggest dropping a note on the village pump to see if there are objections to what it says. >Radiant< 08:30, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

- I don't know if it's even necessary to make this a guideline or part of the manual of style; it's more of an internal project page to help us decide how to format lists. Of course, if people want it to be a guideline, that's fine with me; I don't own this project. --NE2 14:18, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

- Agreed. There's no need to formalize things. That need arose out of the way the exit list guide was being used at that WikiProject, but I have faith that the same won't occur here. ;-) -- NORTH talk 23:51, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Guidelines aren't formal. At any rate what you call it is not really relevant as long as it's agreed upon to work like this in most cases. >Radiant< 07:45, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Propose that this be rejected
This seems like the ultimate in WP:CREEP. Why would an encyclopedia even deal with bus routes? This is clearly local trivia. --Kevin Murray 16:14, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- Please see Category:Bus routes. As long as the encyclopedia does deal with bus routes, it may make sense to write some guidelines for it. >Radiant< 09:30, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
This is just one-man's creep. User:Northenglish has retired from WP and was the only other contributor here. The concept of having bus schedule in WP goes against the concept of ignificant or non-trivial. --Kevin Murray 12:46, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- This is part of the WikiProject. --NE2 13:34, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
