[edit] Merger
As per my proposal on the project page, I think it would be best for the articles about Warhammer 40,000 if all the non-large pages be merged into one article such as Planets of Warhammer 40,000. This, I believe should be done because:
- The pages have a low number of edits and may lead to an increase in edits
- The pages are not likely to grow too much larger
- There is a lot of unreferenced fancruft in there and trying to maintain 10 articles is more difficult than 1
This doesn't include the larger pages such as Armageddon (Warhammer 40,000) for obvious reasons. -Localzuk (talk) 10:12, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- There may be merit in what you suggest, but Forge World is not a planet but a class of planet based on it's industry so the question then becomes should this article become part of the new article you propose? Waza 01:03, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- I suggest that it should be, as the title of the article I propose is Planets of Warhammer 40,000 - so doesn't tie it down to actually describing planets but can also go into detail about 'classes of planets' (there is also Death World which is in the same boat).
- Also, I think the information regarding 'Forge World' as in the company/real entity should be left as it is or merged with the Games Workshop article. (I am copying this to the discussion on the project page so that we have a centralised place of discussion.-Localzuk (talk) 09:28, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
As the initial author of the Forge World and Death World articles, I have no problem with them being merged into a single article as sub-headers, with maybe a listing of some of the more notable examples. We'd have to expand into Hive World and maybe a few others as well. - SAMAS
As no-one has complained about the proposal, I will go ahead and merge the articles and try to organise them into a nice page. -Localzuk (talk) 12:33, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- Now you have me. While I do not object to having a universal planets of Warhammer 40,000, I do object to leaving out so many planets that are worthy of their own page. I have a particular disliking towards massive pages loaded with information, especially if those sections could stand on their own. However, you seem to not like multiple smaller pages floating around.
- The way you find that balance is a system of standards. Example: A planet cannot have it's own page without 200 words (or more) of history in the article. Instead of taking all the planets and putting them into 50-word paragraphs/sections (for size issues), leave the core information and a link to the planet's article.
- But the planet page is also restrictive to Imperial worlds as well. I look around everything you make and do, Localzuk, and you are pretty local. We need pages and guidelines that fit criteria for as broad as possible, not just the Imperium. Colonel Marksman 17:01, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
