[edit] Uncle Sam
It sickens me that I have to see this horrible piece of trashy american propoganda when someone is "welcomed" into Wikipedia. This isn't the United States army! Couldn't Wikipedia find a much more universal substitute and one which does not represent the United States Army? Meaty♠Weenies (talk) 18:49, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- The template {{welcome-anon}} is more neutral, and not a play on anything. As for the Uncle Sam template, I think it's cute, I use it regularly, and I recently upgraded it (see the next thread). SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:53, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Uncle Sam template upgraded
I have upgraded the {{welcomeunclesam}} template to function the same as {{welcome-anon}}, in order to display an article title if a user so desires. Thus one would need to place {{subst:welcomeunclesam|art=Foobar}}
on a page in order to add an article title. Could this new functionality be added to Friendly's tie-in with this template? SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:57, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- And on that same note, can we make it possible to welcome one's self? I find it helpful to test templates on my own user talk page, and it's blocked in Friendly. Something like a little yes-I-really-mean-to-do-this button in that dialog box would be very helpful. SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:59, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Citations
Could Friendly have the {{citations}} tag in its repertoire please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by SGGH (talk • contribs)
- Actually, it already does. It's listed as {{nofootnotes}} ("citations" is a redirect to the real template). Personally, I'd like to see Friendly start to carry {{morefootnotes}}, since I find myself in need of this tag quite a bit, and wish it was part of Friendly.
