[edit] Quality and Importance

What determines the quality and importance of an article should probably be decided before the template is added to any pages. U2 is obviously top-importance, but what about other U2-related articles like The Hands That Built America? Some method of importance and quality-rankings needs to be implemented. Well, I'm 'dreaming up' some guidelines now. First we need to state WHY we are assessing - ie, essentially to get focus for the project. Ie, we are assessing for both importance and quality. Thus, a low quality but important article becomes a higher priority - nothing complicated about it.
As for actually assessing, I assessed 100s of pages for wikiproject Indonesia so I have a reasonable idea. But for starters U2 should be one of the very very few articles of 'top' importance while I am thinking that any U2 song that deserves it's own article (many don't should be deleted in my mind) gets 'mid' importance, singles get 'high' importance and maybe there is a handful of songs such as 'One' and 'SBS' that get 'top' importance. Studio albums for example, are 'high' with a few exceptions getting 'top'. These are guidelines only. I will report back soon. Merbabu 02:04, 23 June 2007

[edit] Major assessing done...

OK, I've gone through over 175 articles, attached the project tag, and provided an assessment of both quality and importance. Look at this list. There is also a table that depicts both quality and importance (and shows how much work the project has).

I think my assessment approach has been good - while there may be a few individual articles that i did not get right, I think the reasoning I put on the assessment page is sound.

No doubt there are still articles out there to be brought into the project. Merbabu 07:29, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Wow, that looks fantastic! MelicansMatkin 13:36, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tasks

Hi Guys, smithcool asked me to approach you (plural) and ask if you would be interested in setting some tasks for the Project in general i.e. promote the U2 article to FA status. Let me know what you think and by the way you're all doing a great job. Joelster 07:19, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
