  • Georgie Anne Geyer called Tunisia the country that works, let's make the project work! Chris 09:08, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Absolutely not. The article that is available is already bad enough. It is extremely biased, and presents Tunisia in a context alien to it. Rather than present it as the Mediterranean country that it is, it is presented as an African country, with its Arab identity denied, and the Berber one highlighted. As a Tunisian, I can assert for a fact that Berbers are in fact the minority and looked upon as outsiders, as others, and are usually of the lower masses. Most of what is being written about this is based on a study of not even 20 individuals undoubtedly picked from a locale that is not representive of the Tunisian population, with its Arab, Turkish, Italian and sundry other roots. Most of your names do not sound Tunisian nor Arab and I am afraid another grotesque article will be created, based mostly on wishful thinking. I hope wikipedia doesn't last long, it is certainly doing a disservice to history and the world. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.88.232.156 (talk • contribs)

All of your edits on here have been biased and very anti-Wikipedia, you even delete sourced text. Your comments may safely be ignored. Chris 10:25, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New project

Dear all,
I would like to welcome the creation of the Wikiproject Tunisia ! As member of your French-speaking counterpart, I hope that we will collaborate to better the articles about Tunisia as we have some articles in English we would like to translate in French. I think the contrary is also true because of the number of articles we have. Best regards, Moumou82 18:47, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Berbers

I believe this very unique culture, with a one-of-a-kind alphabet Tifinagh and history dating back as far as ancient Egypt, merits it's own WikiProject. There is a beautiful portal at Portal:Berbers, and I think Wikipedia would benefit greatly from this. Chris 09:38, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

We're up and running! Please visit and contribute at Wikipedia:WikiProject Berbers! Thanks! Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 05:39, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Template:Location map Tunisia

Kairouan (Tunisia )
Kairouan
Kairouan
Kairouan (Tunisia )

I've added a Tunisia map to the Template:Location map collection, to make it easy to add location maps to articles with a red location pog to mark a particular latitude and longitude. For more examples at different sizes, see here.

It should be easy to add such maps to Settlement Infoboxes, just by filling in the "pushpin map" field, but for some reason I can't get this to work yet -- for some reason the latitude/longitude information isn't getting through properly, and it ends up with the pin in the middle of the bottom of the map. Don't (yet) know why this is going wrong.

One thing I might change, if I have time in the next fortnight or so, would be to make the map more "landscape" rather than "portrait" -- I think that will make it work better stacked below landscape format photos in Infoboxes. But that means I need to get hold of vector graphics of some more African coast.

As well as the East-West cropping, we might also like to think about the North-South cropping. At the moment, the map is cropped fairly tight on the country. But for recognition, a wider map might include the top of Sicily, or even compare this Carthage map, from Commons.

Anyhow, let me know what you all think. :-) Jheald 11:17, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Project banner

It is my sincerest hope that this statement is not taken as being an attempt to subvert this project, take control over it, or any similar thing. However, the Template:AfricaProject has recently had parameters put into it to allow it to provide separate assessments for all the "Africa" projects, including this one. If in the interests of reducing banner clutter the members of this project were to choose to use that banner, please let me know and I can adjust any categories accordingly to permit it. Thank you. [edit] Proposal to consolidate African country WikiProject banners

Template:AfricaProject was recently modified, and now contains individual parameters for all countries in Africa (see usage notes). Since project-specific assessment for all African countries can now be accomplished through the template, a proposal has been made at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Africa to consolidate all individual African country WikiProject banners.

Comments or suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you, Black Falcon (Talk) 23:29, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
