[edit] Nature of "todo"

  • This is not to be used to alert others to discussions. It is to be used to assign a uniform "to do" list, that applies across all articles. Smee 23:48, 11 April 2007 (UTC).
    • Says you! I say it is entirely appropriate to alert project members to HOT discussions and issues and you are not the one to say I can't do it so please KNOCK IT OFF. You do not by God WP:OWN this project. --Justanother 23:51, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
      • Please look at the usage of "to do" templates for virtually any other WikiProject. This is a very highly inappropriate usage of the subpage. Thanks. Smee 23:54, 11 April 2007 (UTC).
  • Please also stop your usage of CAPS and exclamation points. It is unnecessary and rude. Thanks. Smee 23:55, 11 April 2007 (UTC).
    • I think that project pages are for use (switching to bold - laff) so I disagree with your assessment. Sorry. --Justanother 23:57, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
      • Did you check the usage of "To do" on any other WikiProject to come to this assessment, or just your own personal opinion, hrm? Smee 00:02, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
        • Why, it is my personal opinion. Funny thing is, my personal opinion is batting 1000. It is a TODO list. Comment on that RfC is a TODO thing for this project. We all own the project and we can all add things to the TODO list. Sorry if that does not fit your general plan. --Justanother 00:08, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
  • Ah. So that is a no. You did not check the format and nature and usage of the "To do" subpages on any other WikiProjects? Smee 00:12, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
    • Ah. Yes, that is what I said. It is my personal opinion that I can place things on the TODO list that I want the group to do (as in TODO). You have divined that I said exactly what I said. --Justanother 00:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
      • The "to do" list should remain static, and not be a subject of debate, for precisely these reasons - that is how it was initially created, modeled after other WikiProjects as such. Following your logic, I could just as simply place a notice up there for every single other time there is a dispute of some sort, and it would get bogged down. That is precisely what the talk page of WP:SCN should be used for, but not here. Thanks. Smee 00:22, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
        • I disagree. I would place HOT items on the TODO list because you can mirror the TODO list on your user page. I would ~~~~~ (datestamp) the entry and pull it off after an appropriate period. Tell you what, let's leave it like it is for now (I am just going to add a datestamp) and I will address this with the group before I do it again. --Justanother 00:27, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
  • So you are saying then that you do not wish to take a moment to peruse the "to do" lists of the other WikiProjects, and see how they are used there? Smee 00:30, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
    • I looked at a few and no, they did not have any items such as that. So what? None of those I looked at looked like your redesign either. I am respecting that you object although I feel that you are not being very respectful to me, that you are being argumentative, but I will not do it again until I do a little straw poll on the project site. Not today though, I already have an RfC going. --Justanother 00:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
      • I looked at a few and no, they did not have any items such as that. - And then you go ahead and edit war about this issue and add one that is flashy with inappropriate use of colour and CAPS. Quite interesting. You know that you are doing something outside of the norm and something which "to do" subpages are not used for, and do it anyway. Just so we are clear. Smee 00:38, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
        • Uh, Smee, you are the one edit-warring. I simply added something to a TODO list. And only you think I violated some "standard". Sheesh. --Justanother 00:42, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
          • It takes two to edit war. And you added something to a "to do" list that should not be there, and you should have instead used the talk page of WP:SCN in this manner. What you did was inappropriate. Yuck yuck. Smee 00:44, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
            • OK, we will sort it out after my current RfC. Later. --Justanother 00:48, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
              • OK, we can sort it out later. In the meantime, please remove it from here. Thanks. Smee 00:50, 12 April 2007 (UTC).

No, I believe it belongs and unless we want to expand the edit war, just leave it please. --Justanother 00:54, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I will leave it up to you to do the right thing and to remove this inappropriate usage of the to do space. Smee 01:02, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
