[edit] Darkwar Saga

This article needs to be split up into seperate articles for each book, i believe theres enough infomation there. Salavat (talk) 00:08, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Ill put that on the to-do list for you, if you want. Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 01:00, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeh that would be cool. Salavat (talk) 01:50, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Raymond E. Feist's series

Now i noticed that this template is quite large and will probably become larger, so what im suggesting is:

that we add in the line: "| state = autocollapse" into the template and then in the articles "{{Raymond E. Feist's series|state=collapsed}}", that way the template is collapsed and doesn't make the article look crowded.

eg Gary Paulsen's template on The Case of the Dirty Bird. Salavat (talk) 08:27, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Template:WPRAY

theres a problem in the code for Template:WPRAY , on every page it is used it has a documentation thing under it, i dont think that should be there. I dont no anything about that template so can someone take a look.

Thanks, Salavat (talk) 08:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Krondor's Sons

Ive read through the plot summaries on Krondor's Sons and i believe them to be good enough quality for a separate article, although they probably will need some more work, im willing to do this unless anyone is against this? Salavat (talk) 08:56, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Fine, go ahead Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 03:50, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Currently working out where the direct link of Prince of the Blood should go, currently redirects to Prince, hopefully i get an answer from the people there soon so i can begin making the article. Salavat (talk) 04:19, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Prince of the Blood page is finished, now i think i got the first edition cover but then i cant be sure. So if anyone knows which one is first edition, please let us know. Salavat (talk) 14:09, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
The King's Buccaneer is now finished and again i think i got the first edition cover but then i cant be sure. So if anyone knows which one is first edition, please let us know. Salavat (talk) 04:11, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Overlapping

Dont no if any one else has noticed this, but there is major overlapping when it comes to Midkemia and Raymond E. Feist.

  • The article for Midkemia is to in-universe and should actually be about, who created it and relations to the novels and what not.
  • The page for Raymond E. Feist really shouldnt have all the links to the computer games and stuff like that, this article is about him not the world of Midkemia.
  • Maybe a seperate template should be created for the stuff about the world of Midkemia and Raymond E. Feist should be kept seperate
  • Maybe something like the J. R. R. Tolkien templates on Lord of the Rings, where there are seperate templates for the bibliograhpy and the Lord of the Rings
  • Now i believe that Feist has named the whole series of books which include anything to do with Midkemia and Empire the "The Riftwar Cycle", so maybe two templates, "Raymond E. Feist" and "The Riftware Cycle".
Thanks, Salavat (talk) 01:50, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Never mind it seems this project is dead i made the templates myself. Salavat (talk) 15:49, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Im still on wikibreak because of exams - Ill be back in a week or so. So I'll be trying to help out with the to-do lists. Fattyjwoods Push my button 04:19, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Overlapping templates

The templates Template:Raymond E. Feist's series and Template:The Riftwar Cycle largely duplicate each other. I suggest deleting the first one (Template:Raymond E. Feist's series) as Feist's non-Midkemia work is minimal, and it all can be accessed through his bio page.

I will probably WP:TfD the first template in a few days. --Thetrick (talk) 21:47, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

The main reason for the double up of templates was to remove the Riftwar Cycle elements out of Raymond E. Feists template and even though his non-Midkemian work is minimal it still has nothing to do with Midkemia and thereforw shouldnt be on the same template as worlds of Midkemia and characters. The templates have been set up using J. R. R. Tolkien templates as a guideline. If you want to remove the overlapping, maybe just remove the novels from Template:The Riftwar Cycle and have Template:Raymond E. Feist's series just above it and then rename Template:The Riftwar Cycle to something that will better indicate its about fictional elements within the worlds maybe "Elements of The Riftwar Cycle" or something similar. But dont delete and merge. Salavat (talk) 02:04, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
But what is the point of having a navbox essentially for 1 novel and a few short stories that have no articles? All of Feist's notable work is in the Riftwar universe. If he was, say, Frank Herbert, who has many notable works outside of the Dune universe, I would understand, but Feist is at least a step below Herbert or Tolkien on the fame scale. The Feist articles and related bits should reflect that. --Thetrick (talk) 04:40, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeh ok, i spose it is only like five items, it can always be recreated later if he writes more books outside The Riftwar Cycle. Salavat (talk) 14:26, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
I'll just pull Template:Raymond E. Feist's series from the articles for now and leave deletion for later. --Thetrick (talk) 14:53, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Project re-start

This project seems to have stalled so I'm suggesting these tasks as a way to re-start it and also hopefully wrap it up in the next year or so. I tried to reflect the relative significance of Feist's works in a general encyclopedia when making it.

[edit] High importance tasks

  1. Write a master article for The Riftwar Cycle that covers the books, computer games, etc. (draft here)
  2. Pull future books and descriptive text out of bibliography section of Raymond E. Feist (draft here)

[edit] Medium importance tasks

  1. Write series master articles for: 1) Legends of the Riftwar 2) The Riftwar Legacy 3) The Serpentwar Saga 4) Conclave of the Shadows
  2. Compact and merge the various geography articles down to: 1) Midkemia 2) Kelewan 3) Triagia 4) The Kingdom of the Isles (a lot of the information in the geography aricles consists of fancrufty lists of placenames that would be appropriate for fan sites like the Midkemia Gazetteer but not an encyclopedia)
  3. Merge other assorted articles: 1) Arakasi 2) Pantathians 3) Tsurani
  4. Expand/contract plot summaries in existing novel articles as needed
  5. Find at least one third-party reference or review for each existing novel or series article

[edit] Low importance tasks

  1. Write blurbs about major characters in each existing novel or series article
  2. Create articles for remaining novels: 1) Krondor: The Betrayal 2) Krondor: The Assassins 3) Shadow of a Dark Queen 4) Rise of a Merchant Prince 5) Rage of a Demon King 6) Shards of a Broken Crown 7) Talon of the Silver Hawk 8) King of Foxes 9) Exile's Return
  3. Split the Empire Trilogy into 1) Daughter of the Empire 2) Servant of the Empire 3) Mistress of the Empire (very low)
  4. Put blurbs about the two short stories into The Riftwar Cycle

[edit] Admistrivial tasks

  1. Move Riftwar to The Riftwar Saga (the current name on Crydee.com)
  2. Update Template:The Riftwar Cycle to reflect changes as needed (ongoing)
  3. Delete detailed bibliographic information from various novel articles (that's what ISFDB is for)
  4. Remove Template:Raymond E. Feist's series from various articles

--Thetrick (talk) 23:16, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Kool we actually have someone active on this project, also dont forget the To do list also has a few listings. I will do a split of the Empire Trilogy in a couple of days after my exams are finished, unless already done before hand. Also what do mean by "bibliographic information"? Salavat (talk) 04:59, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
By biblio info I mean listing the ISBN/ISSN, etc. for every edition published in every language. There are other DBs to take care of that kind of info and they can be linked to. Just my opinion.
Obviously you're free to do what you want, but I have drafts available in my sandbox on for what I see as the high importance articles. People are free to collaborate on those. I think if we work down the list it will make for better coverage of Feist's work. I rated the Empire split as low as the existing article provides tolerable coverage as-is. But if you can fill each out then it would be great to have it done.
PS - in case it's not clear, I'm hoping we can create a basic, encyclopedic level of coverage and not end up with a sprawling, overly-detailed mess like you can see in Category:Kushiel's Legacy (39,622 bytes on Ysandre de la Courcel??). I think working top to bottom will help keep it under control. JMHO! --Thetrick (talk) 05:24, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I will be active from next week on as I am currently studying for exams. So Ill start doing the work needed from Sunday on. Fattyjwoods Push my button 06:54, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Just to point out, the publication information section is part of the WP:Novels article guideline, i dont no much about the novel project so i just followed their guideline. Salavat (talk) 05:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
