[edit] {{Location map Ottawa}}

{{Location map Ottawa}} is now available. It displays a map of Greater Ottawa with a dot highlighting a location, when coordinates are given. It can also be used with {{Infobox Settlement}} using the "pushin_map" parameters. --Qyd (talk) 04:46, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] North American ice storm of 1998 GA Sweeps Review: On Hold

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria and I'm specifically going over all of the "Meteorology and atmospheric sciences" articles. I have reviewed North American ice storm of 1998 and believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. I have left this message at this WikiProject's talk page so that any interested members can assist in helping the article keep its GA status. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues concerning sourcing that may need to be addressed, and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days for them to be fixed. I have left messages on the talk pages of the main contributors of the article along with other WikiProjects. Please consider helping address the several points that I listed on the talk page of the article, which shouldn't take too long to fix if multiple editors assist in the workload. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 02:10, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Airport Station (OC Transpo)

Is this really worthy of an article? It's not as if it's identifiable as a station, as is the case with, say, Billings Bridge or even Heron. I think the content could be covered in the article on the airport. Any thoughts? --RFBailey (talk) 01:51, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Photos of Orléans, Ontario

Anyone got any good photos that they could upload to the Commons for use in this article? Currently the only photo is one of a mall entrance, placed prominently in the infobox. Although there may be some small degree of appropriateness in using a shopping mall photo to illustrate a suburban community, surely we could do better. Skeezix1000 (talk) 15:18, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't have any other than Kettle Island in Orleans. Should we take a snapshot of main street? What may work best is a collage of several images. Suggest some locations and I'll stop by sometime soon. Alaney2k (talk) 17:39, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
That would be great! Thanks. I am not the one to suggest places, however, as I am Alta Vista and Kanata born and raised, and am not very familiar with the other end of town. Perhaps others could suggest good, landmark locations. In terms of collage, the article could stand to have two or three new images, but remember the discouragement against galleries in Wikipedia's image use policy. The preferred solution is to link to a category over at the Commons if there are more images than can be fit into the article. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 18:02, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Surely there's something more distinctive than the current photo, a branch of SportChek? That photo could be just about anywhere! --RFBailey (talk) 00:15, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Not much to Orleans, sorry. Alaney2k (talk) 20:13, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merge proposal for West Ward Market Building (Ottawa) and First City Hall (Ottawa)

[edit] Ottawa neighborhoods part of former cities and/opr townships

See:Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board#Requested moves - Ottawa neighbourhoods. A discussion at WP:CANBOARD is underway regarding titles of articles of some Ottawa communities mainly outside the Greenbelt.--JForget 23:11, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Naming conventions

I disagree with disambiguating the roads. Wikipedia does not require disambiguation unless 2 or more subjects share the same name. A lot of the Ottawa roads' names are exclusive, and always will be. Example: Terry Fox Drive (Ottawa), which I tried to move to Terry Fox Drive, but it wouldn't let me, so I ended up blanking the page out of frustration. Someone has to fix this problem, and then move the required pages. --Pwnage8 (talk) 20:53, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Assessing articles

I modified Template:OttawaProject so that we can now add quality and importance assessments. Please start tagging all Ottawa articles, this will place them into the appropriate categories, and eventually will generate a fancy chart. --Padraic 15:01, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Donna Upson

A user requested that I review the article on Donna Upson, a controversial former mayoral candidate in Ottawa, for WP:BLP issues. I've added sources where I can, but need some additional help ensuring that the article is properly sourced. Can anybody help out on this one? Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 13:36, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
