[edit] Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Hi, unfortunately we don't have adequate images of Ohio's only National Park. Commons:Category:Cuyahoga Valley National Park is all there is. If someone is going there sometimes this spring, summer, or fall please take a camera with you and take pictures of the sights and the typical landscape. TIA --h-stt !? 11:55, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Any specs? I have a good feeling a good NPS pic is somewhere online. Front entrance? What you lookin for? §hep • ¡Talk to me! 23:57, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't introduce myself. I'm the main author on US National Parks, Monuments, Historic Sites and so on in the de-Wikipedia. I've been to many of them myself, have traveled many states of the US (and provinces in Canada), but haven't been to Ohio and this Park, and probably won't come there anytime soon. I have to write about it none the less, because we don't have anyone in the German Wikipedia, who has been there. And frankly, from the NPS-Website I did not get an adequate idea about the park. The aerial images at Google finally helped me to understand about it. So basically I would like to have pictures of everything in the park:
- Nature and the natural landscape: The River, the tributaries (with the Brandywine Falls and other waterfalls), the forest, open areas, ...
- The cultural landscape: The historic locks, the towpath, the historic farms, farm land, man-made ponds, other historic buildings, ...
- A National Park in a densely populated area: The Ohio Turnpike (and/or other overpasses), sub-urban developments (as seen from the park or the park as seen from them), the golf course, other recreational installations of any kind, industrial buildings close to the park, ...
- whatever I missed here that is specific for Cuyahoga Valley NP.
- You know, first of all Cuyahoga Valley NP deserves a decent article (and decent images) just because it is a National Park. But I think there is more: Having protected nature in a densely populated area is an interesting challenge for environmentalists. And one that will become more important. There are no more Yosemites, Yellowstones or Grand Canyons around anymore, not in the US, nor in Germany. But valuable patches of nature, interconnected with remnants of historic use by man, and a huge need for recreational use today are pretty typical for the developed world. And this makes Cuyahoga Valley NP interesting and deserving to be reported at Wikipedia - in English language but in other languages as well. Can anyone of you help me and Wikipedia in general, by providing a few images of the topics above, and/or of anything else that I didn't know or think about? --h-stt !? 17:19, 27 April 2008 (UTC) PS: This is not urgent. Take your time, but maybe someone of you thinks of my wishes, when you go to the park anyway - or if you are looking for an idea on how to spend a day this season. I put the category at the Commons and the article here on watch, and hope to see a few good pictures coming in over time. Thanks in advance
- I'll see what type of trip, if any, I can set up. Busy searching through Google right now. Keep you posted. §hep • ¡Talk to me! 00:24, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've emailed a few people with copyrighted photos of the sign and have received no response... I was looking to go there myself but have the Nuss procedure set up for this July and summer gym this June. Is there anyone who lives near Akron or Cleveland who has a free weekend? §hep • ¡Talk to me! 22:41, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Grand River Academy
Hi all, I have closed an AfD on this as no consensus default keep, recommending that three months be granted for folks to find some offline sources. Surely some local history books in an Ohio library will have something? Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 08:08, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] List of counties in Ohio
Myself and a group of other editors are working to bring List of counties in Ohio to Featured List standard. Hopefully, you'd agree that the article is pretty close. The main thing holding it back is the lack of references in the lead section. Could people here take two minutes to have a quick look, and see if the can use their specialist knowledge of Ohio to help provide those remaining few citations? Every little helps. [edit] Article Importance
I'm hoping to start a discussion on how to rate article for importance at the assessment talk page. Please lend in your opinions! Thanks. §hep • ¡Talk to me! 00:09, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Picture request for Ohioans living near/in Toledo
I'm currently working on an article on the Roman emperor Domitian. Unfortunately, there is a serious lack of good, clear pictures of his portraits (busts, statues). Part of the reason is because there are simply few surviving portraits of Domitian to begin with (he was condemned to be obliterated from public memory following his death). The Toledo Museum of Art however contains a truly spectacular bust of this emperor, which is not only a fine portrait of Domitian in its own right, but probably one of the finest surviving busts from the Roman Empire period. An example can be seen here. Because I think the current article would be greatly enhanced with an image of this bust, I've tried an extensive internet search for good, free pictures but came up with nothing. So I would like to ask any Wikipedians living nearby to either, "donate" pictures they already have to Wikipedia, or consider taking a short trip to the museum and photograph this statue from as many angles as they can. Your help would be much, much appreciated! Cheers. --Steerpike (talk) 19:46, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Facelift
I've been looking around and there seems to be some very talented HTML wiki-editors. Would anyone be opposed to having our pages get a facelift so that they look more organized? We could always look through Category:User html-5, Category:User html-4, and Category:User html-3 for some users who may be willing to help us out. If we can get some consensus and no takers I'll take the issue to the bounty board. What do you think? §hep • ¡Talk to me! 18:38, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] C-Class Implementation
There is a current discussion going on at V 1.0 Team/Assessment where the community is gathering consensus on the use of a C-Class between Start and B. Since this change will effect all projects; members are invited to join in the !vote and discussions. §hep • ¡Talk to me! 17:01, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Article Cleanup Listing
An article cleanup listing (found here) has been generated to list articles which have been tagged as needing our attention. There are currently 2206 articles, which is 15% of all of our articls, which are flagged for cleanup. If you have the time please stop by one of the articles and help it out enough that the cleanup tags can be removed. Thanks! §hep • ¡Talk to me! 21:24, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] InterProject Collaboration
Hey there! As you may or may not know. An Afd has been brought up to discuss the notability of Ohio High School Athletic Conferences. It was proposed that WikiProject Ohio lead an effort to get these articles up to par. We are asking for help from Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports and Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools as well to help us get these articles uniform. An effort headed by JonRidinger and Frank12 is in place to jump start this process. Any help you guys could lend would be greatly appreciated. As a main point for the effort we have the talk page which is located at Wikipedia:OH/HS Football Conferences. Thank you for your time! §hep • ¡Talk to me! 21:59, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- I moved the collaboration to Wikipedia:WikiProject Ohio/HS Football Conferences, which is what I intended to suggest in the first place. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 22:45, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Centralized Discussion for reorganization of high school football conferences
Any objections to starting Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ohio/HS Football Conferences 2008 Reorg to discuss reorganizing and possibly merging or deleting high school football conferences, as outlined in this AfD? davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 19:59, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Wait, nevermind, we already have a place: Wikipedia:WikiProject Ohio/HS Football Conferences. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 20:13, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
