[edit] Up and running
Well, here it is. It probably has teething problems and will need fine-tuning. Feel free to chip in with ideas and improvements. --ROGER DAVIES talk 12:08, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sections to be added
I'll get round to adding the following over the next couple of days; unless someone keen wants to add them themselves?
- Research
- Find-a-source: list info for which source needed
- Find a book: does anyhow have XXXX and can they look at p320 and tell me if XXX is sourced there.
- Fact-finding" bullet as well? Things for questions like "how much territory was conquered by nation X during the y war" or "who commanded the Z battalion at the Battle of Something" etc.
- Templates
- New templates to order
- Old templates modified or updated
;Translation
Translation of short sections for articles.Gist. "Can you give me the gist of what this means"

- The graphics and photo sections might be better off combined under a single "Media" (or similar) section, perhaps? Or would that make the sub-headings too small?
- (The page is a bit hard to follow at the moment, although much of this is probably just the normal side-effect of a new initiative. Given how convoluted the TOC is likely to get, though, a set of initial links similar to those used at WP:MHR might be worth considering.) Kirill 04:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

- I was concerned about bloat with a combined graphic and photo section. Having a media section, effectively just as a redirect to other sections within it might work. In principle, I'd prefer lots of shortish sections than a few big ones. Others may disagree :)
- Yes, I agree. It's very much a beta version/work in progress and I'm hoping that actual use exposes areas where improvement can be made. It would be good if others actively input on structure.
- I certainly intended the links to follow the MHR# model. Feel free to improve or add supplementary ones :)

- Okay, I've taken a stab at setting up some initial links. The descriptions are obviously very rudimentary; but I'm not really sure what the final breakdown of areas and sections will be. Kirill 05:50, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Questia
Does anyone have access to this? It seems marvellous - textbooks online and all in copyable format....Blnguyen (bananabucket) 01:33, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- It is at http://www.questia.com/ . I seem to have access, but it only lists sources. Some limited amount of biographical info, equivalent to a B class article from the University of Columbia encyclopedy. Wandalstouring (talk) 07:52, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- I thought it gives whole books... Blnguyen (bananabucket) 01:42, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- OK, you're right it gives whole books and seems freely accessable. Wandalstouring (talk) 10:50, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- I was wondering if you could get tthis for me. All of it hopefully :) Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:01, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I can. Wandalstouring (talk) 09:11, 23 May 2008 (UTC)No, only partially. Wandalstouring (talk) 10:27, 23 May 2008 (UTC)- From what I can see it looks like an absolute pain to use (my IE $even doesn't like it at all). However, if possibly convenient; [1].
