[edit] articles revealing conflict
I was thinking it might be useful to tag the talk pages of articles where the pro- and anti-MJ editorial groups have butted heads. This would be useful for looking back how differences were resolved—if they were resolved. The idea is to foster increased understanding. I'm not sure what a good name for such a thing would be, though. ⇔ ChristTrekker 16:28, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think its a great idea. Feel free to develop it, you have my support. inigmatus 20:51, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- How about Category:Jewish/Messianic articles for increased understanding, or Category:Jewish/Messianic editorial dynamic, or simply Category:Jewish/Messianic discussion archive? (Or please suggest a better name if you have one.) As it is self-referential (i.e. referring to Wikipedia process itself) it can't be a subcat of Category:Religious controversies (which Category:Messianic Judaism itself is a part of!), but it seems to come close to the use of Template:Controversial and its category Category:Wikipedia controversial topics. I think a subcategory would be wise, though—that one is huge. It doesn't quite fit the use of Template:Disputed or Template:POV, as we don't want this to be transitory (the goal is to maintain a record of discussion), nor on the article page itself. One of those two (or Template:POV-check) could be useful at times, however. ⇔ ChristTrekker 16:43, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Or we could just call it what it is, Category:Jewish/Messianic editorial disputes, but I was trying to avoid that kind of adversarial-sounding terminology. ⇔ ChristTrekker 23:56, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm thinking to implement as a template, using a date parameter so subcats could be automatically generated for organization, and another parameter denoting whether the talk or history (edit comments) page is the relevant one. ⇔ ChristTrekker 19:03, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK, it is Template:Jew-MJ dispute. It only creates subcategories right now, and so far they are "soft"—that is, the category pages themselves haven't been saved; they only exist by virtue of being populated. So we can still change the names of the template and/or the categories. If the response to the names is positive, I'll link them to a unifying parent cat. First uses: 1, 2, and 3. ⇔ ChristTrekker 17:25, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- Anyone? And FYI, all articles tagged thus far should show up under Category:Jewish/Messianic editorial disputes in talk, Category:Jewish/Messianic editorial disputes in comments, or Category:Jewish/Messianic editorial disputes in unspecified location. Yes, they're still red links, as I stated above. ⇔ ChristTrekker 21:31, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
