Note: I would like to mention that all conversation here takes place when the RuneScape task force was a separate WikiProject with the exception of 9. Welcome and beyond. The move had not yet taken place at that time as the move was discussed in the 8th section. Greeves (talk contribs) 13:32, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you participants

I am the founder of this project again... I am continuing from the first message i had. As you are aware I do not know how to organise this project and I have Secondary School to attend to. I only contribute to wikipedia because the contributers help me know more things and even help me cite them for prjects! I am not a wikiholic but I will stay up to date.

Thank you for contributing participants, keep editing! :-)

Joining

Is it OK if I put my name down? Can I just join? - • The Giant Puffin • 09:51, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

After the initiation ritual, yes. :-P Sure, feel free! Not that i'm in charge, thats just what everyone else does. CaptainVindaloo t c e 18:08, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Nobody's in charge really, I just put the pages together with a participants list alone, no requirements/duties/etc. If we need some sort of a hierarchy we can make one, but right now there's no real need. As long as you pay up your monthly fee of cookies you'll be fine (and please, put your name in alphabetical order :P). Agentscott00(talk) 18:16, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Rogue subpage patrol

A quick search brings up these:

The first is unfortunately, probably NN. The second two are next-to-useless clan banners that'll never get used in articles. The last is simply and unused fairuse, but could be useful. What shall we do with them? CaptainVindaloo t c e 00:45, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Deletion is probably a course of action in most of those cases - • The Giant Puffin • 13:21, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to all the RuneScapeWikipedians out there, but Wookieepedia is on AfD/DRV every other week, and that has been featured in notable/reliable third party publications. I don't think RSW has had such coverage. As for Storkian's image, its a simple matter of an orphaned fairuse image, so we need to find it a home or let it go. Its got JPG artifacts, but it gets a pretty good profile of a typical game avatar into 10kB. CaptainVindaloo t c e 16:57, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Add Runescape magic guide (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) to the list. The title says it all, really. CaptainVindaloo t c e 02:19, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, Storkian's image has gone. *sigh*. It gives me an idea though - the same or similar image - just without JPEG artifacts would be very good for the introductory section in RuneScape and in RuneScape combat. I'll try to grab one sometime. CaptainVindaloo t c e 17:15, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Curiosity killed the cat...

I am just wondering, why was this WikiProject done in the form of a portal? Greeves 04:18, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

I found the design at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Turnkey_Project, taken from the French Wikipedia, and used it for my userpage. When this project came along, I had a bit of experience with turnkey, and thought it would look nice, so I decided to give it a shot, and designed the project (after its initial creation) using the turnkey template, as it looks better than a regular white page with a bunch of text. There's no real reason, just to make it look nice/organized. Agentscott00(talk) 04:40, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

RuneScape gods sources

Gods really urgently needs its sources adding. Would anyone object to me changing the Current Collaboration to this? CaptainVindaloo t c e 21:10, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I'll go ahead and do it.. Agentscott00(talk) 00:25, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
For the meantime, my sandbox has a copy of the page where we can do a re-write. I might start working on it later in the week, but go ahead and start if you want to. Agentscott00(talk) 05:26, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 17:07, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Castle Wars (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) recreated

Just so everyone knows. I've redirected it to RuneScape combat, lets hope it stays that way or we'll have to get it deleted a third time. CaptainVindaloo t c e 00:50, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

I think it should redirect to the Locations page. After all, Castle Wars is the location of a mini-game that involves combat.--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 02:22, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Move to WikiProject MMO/RuneScape Task Force

Wikipedia:WikiProject RuneScapeWikipedia:WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games/RuneScape Task Force – WikiProject RuneScape is not big enough to have a WikiProject to itself although the members of the project feel that none the less, some form of collaboration for specifically RuneScape related pages is needed. That is why I am proposing for the WikiProject to become a task force of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games which is currently it's parent project. Greeves 23:12, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Survey

Add "* '''Support'''" or "* '''Oppose'''" or other opinion in the appropriate section followed by a brief explanation, then sign your opinion with ~~~~

  • Support - As the nominator, my reasons are above. Also, please visit #Is this WikiProject really necessary? as I have more reasons as to why there is no need to have this as a separate WikiProject. I now see that there needs to be some form of collaboration and especially anti-vandalism stuff on the RS pages. There still can't really be a separate WikiProject for it though. Greeves 23:12, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Support: I feel that the scope of the WikiProject is not large enough and if merged with WP:MMO a lot more can get done due to the combination of the Runescape WikiProject members and the WP:MMO members.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 20:43, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Oppose - doesn't seem to be worth all the messing about (it would require load of moving about and probably admin aid too) for a title change. I can see your point, but its a bit late now. However, it can function just as well as a task force here. You could redirect that link above to here instead, list this project as a task force and put the WP:MMO recruiting poster up instead, it'll be exactly the same thing. Scope doesn't matter much for taskforces - most are for adding a certain category to all articles, putting up a certain template, or keeping citations in a certain format, etc. Sorry for being Mr Naysayer all the time, CaptainVindaloo t c e 01:34, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
    • What's wrong with a little bit of purposeful work? Heck, if an admin won't do it, I will! Greeves 04:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
      • Actually, all that needs to be done is to push the move button up at the top and type in the suggested page, just need to do that for any subpages as well. Not a lot of work and no admin help needed.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:49, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
        • If the proposal is undesirable, we can always move the WikiProject to the Portal!--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 21:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
          • But the whole purpose of the portal is navigation for readers, not collaboration. Also, there is but a few days left for this proposal and we have approx. 67% of the votes. If nobody else votes, this may actually work. Greeves 23:52, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Requested moves is not a vote any more than Articles for deletion are. Please act with restraint and wait for someone else to close the move as successful. Patstuarttalk|edits 18:46, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

To prevent any confusion...

To prevent any confusion, this is separate from the MfD I had filed; this one is to preserve the project but make it part of something bigger, WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games. This way, the project (hopefully soon to be changed to task force) will get more exposure. I would also like to mention that your collaboration system would be separate from our up and coming system and you could retain your collaboration system while the RuneScape articles would still be eligible under ours. Quite honestly, I cannot see any down-side to this proposal. Greeves 23:53, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

How would it get more exposure? It took me a surprisingly long time to find the WP:CVG taskforces, but the separate daughter wikiprojects were staring me in the face as soon as I loaded the page. Either way, it'll just be a link on the WP:MMO page. If you need help from editors here on another article, you need only ask. I'd be happy to help in any way I can, and I'm sure everyone else would be too. We'll ask for help if we need it (by the way, RuneScape could do with an NPOV check by someone who doesn't play the game). Is it really worth spending a day moving pages and changing links all across Wikipedia for the sake of a title change? Its not like the current name is inflammatory, breaks a naming convention, is misspelled or expresses a POV. CaptainVindaloo t c e 19:46, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Welcome

Welcome RuneScape WikiProject members! Welcome as the new task force on WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games. I hope as being a part of WikiProject MMOs that this task force and the WikiProject as a whole advances. Greeves 22:53, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Yay! I truly hope we can get more input from the MMOG Project, since we've been trying to acheive FA status for RuneScape for over a month now.--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 23:36, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Project Banner

I created a project banner in order to identify RS articles as within the scope of this task force. It's mostly a preliminary template, and I still have to find a GFDL or public domain image for the banner.-Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 05:16, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Looks good - • The Giant Puffin • 13:54, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Looks great! Although... normally task forces do not have a separate banner. I am in the process of removing those new banners (sorry!) and adding the following code to the main project banner: |task force=RuneScape This code will provide a little addition to the banner with a link and logo for the task force. I am wondering if Ed could speed delete the original template as I believe he can do that if he created it. By the way, it's not that I don't like the template, it's just not normal to have a banner for a project task force and especially with that cruft template as well, the templates are very numbered. Greeves (talk contribs) 04:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I can't get it deleted, because it's in template space. There's nothing in deletion policy that can get the template deleted. I think we should just keep the template for future reference.--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 02:08, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Alright! Either way works. The template isn't causing any harm staying in template space anyway. Remember that for RuneScape-related articles, please type {{WP MMOG|task force=RuneScape}} on the article's talk page. Greeves (talk contribs) 22:13, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
So that everyone is up to date on this, should we add this to the template box on this task force's page?--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 23:38, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Is it me, or is Image:Rds.JPG a fair use image? Sorry to be a killjoy, i'm just a little worried about it. CaptainVindaloo t c e 00:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
I don't think so, but I'll have to check Image copyright policy on that.--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 01:27, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
The public domain license tag is applicable, since Ryanclarke1 recreated the image with originality. (He added "RS" to the image.--Ed ¿Cómo estás?Reviews? 02:18, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Just to let everyone know, the task force ParserFunction is intended to be within the original banner, it is not intended to have one banner for it, one banner for assessment. Greeves (talk contribs reviews) 19:46, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

DeviousMUD

An article on DeviousMUD (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs) has been created from an old redirect. Just so everyone knows. CaptainVindaloo t c e 21:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Right, thats probably going to get deleted - • The Giant Puffin • 13:17, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
