Infobox

Here's a discussion I've started at Template_talk:Infobox_City regarding our infobox, Template:Infobox Town MA. The first paragraph is copied from there, in case someone wanted to continue the discussion here. Markles 18:18, 22 September 2005 (UTC).:

  • I also added an alternate version. Template:Infobox Town MA. I originally made this for Massachusetts towns (not cities), but it could apply to most New England states, maybe even NY & NJ, too. New England municipalities include towns, not just cities. Therefore, there are Boards of Selectmen & Town Managers instead of City Councils and Mayors. However, I hardly think this infobox I've made is such a good idea after all. Perhaps I can get some input from this WikiProject's participants.   • I just heavily modified the Template:Infobox Town MA to include more information and to make it look like the Template:Infobox City one. It still has all the original fields that Markles put in (form of government, town leader, board of selectmen, etc), but I generalized it to allow more flexability. For example, if you leave a field blank now, it won't show up in the infobox at all. In addition, I converted the "Town Manager" field to be "leader_title" and "leader_name" in case different towns have different leader types (or in the case of no leader at all or an unknown leader, leave both fields blank and the line won't show up). Mitt Romney

On a somewhat related note, there is a discussion going on at Mitt Romney about whether to include the title "His Excellency" at the beginning of the article. Since he is the governor of Massachusetts, I thought people here might want to weigh in at Talk:Mitt Romney with their thoughts. thanks,--Alhutch 08:12, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

"To start a new to-do list:
  • go to the talk page of the article
  • edit it
  • at the top of the edit box, enter {{to do}}
  • blah, blah blah...the point is, it says here to do it on the talk page. PRobably because a todo list is designed for articles, not projects; it may be appropriate to put it on the main page here. And the only reason it's tentative is because it's totally arbitrary: i noticed not all cities or towns have the info box, so there's a good chance theyre no where NEAR standard. I also noticed our namesake article isn't featured, and figured we might as well bring that Up to snuff, too. And i took a suggestion from this talk page. There's a ton more we could "bring up to FA status", but in theory that's the idea of all of our edits, so i figured listing 900 h articles to "improve" would defeat the purpose. If anyone has any other suggestions for tasks, suggest them here - or just add them to the table. And, lastly, on the topic of the first two "standardize"tasks - what do people think of a weekely town/city collaberation? This would be a good way of concentrating our efforts and improving the city/town articles. --jfg284 you were saying? 14:31, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
