Why is the Battle of Raymond page on the WikiProject Louisiana list? - Tony Gunter —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.138.106.100 (talk) 21:13, August 26, 2007 (UTC)

It was misidentified. I just added it to Mississippi wikiproject and removed it from Louisiana wikiproject. -- doncram (talk) 22:39, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

List of National Historic Landmarks in Louisiana is an article in progress that could use help! Pick any of the 53 listed NHLs, and develop its article, or help in the main list-table article. Photos needed! -- doncram (talk) 22:39, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Portal

I have added a basic Portal:Louisiana and added it to the directory. Feel free to make any improvements. Arundhati lejeune 00:22, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Loogaroo and Vampire

G'day all, a couple of us are working up vampire to FAC, and there's a stubby bit on loogaroo mentioned. I was wondering if anyone had a book on lousiaina folklore which mentions them which could work as an inline ref. Also it'd be good to expand teh article at loogaroo too. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:45, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Honey Island Swamp monster

I've just created the above article, but the only sources I could use were online (I live slightly outside the area!) Are there any Louisianans who could improve the article with local books or press articles? Also, I was unable to find an appropriate Louisiana-based category for it (there's no "Folklore of Louisiana" category, rather disappointingly). Perhaps someone could help with that? Thanks, Totnesmartin 18:01, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 8 Louisiana-related AfDs currently underway

Editor Billy Hathorn has been a prolific creator of biographies of lesser-known Louisiana political figures. Many of these articles have been deleted on grounds of notability. At issue has been the availability of references that meet the requirements of our Notability Guideline for Biographies. Additionally, many have cited Mr. Hathorn's master's thesis, which raises issues relating to our Original Research Policy and our Conflict of Interest Guideline. Complicating everything is the shortage of online references for politicans of 50 to 80 years ago; paper is just as acceptable per our Reliable Sources and Verifiability rules, but it is so much easier in AfDs to quickly verify notability for current newsmakers that are discussed online.

Here's the current crop of Articles for Deletion (AfD) discussions; your input pro or con is invited:

A concise summary of all of the Louisiana AfDs underway can be found at

If you put that page on your watchlist, you'll automatically learn of new AfDs as they're added to the list.

More general discussions of Mr. Hathorn's articles can be found at:

It would be good if we can somehow use this prolific body of work while staying within our content guidelines.

[edit] Governors taken care of

The WikiProject Louisiana banner has now been added to all of the Louisiana Governor talk pages. Sf46 (talk) 02:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Census Charts added

Census charts added to parish pages. Sf46 (talk) 10:06, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Youngsville named after physician, not meaning "young village'"

Information posted in your article on Youngsville, as well as information on the town's official website is erroneous. Youngsville was so named after Dr Roy O. Young. It was named to mean "young village."

[edit] Hurricane Camille GA Sweeps Review: On Hold

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria and I'm specifically going over all of the "Meteorology and atmospheric sciences" articles. I have reviewed Hurricane Camille and believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. I have left this message at this WikiProject's talk page so that any interested members can assist in helping the article keep its GA status. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days for them to be fixed. I have left messages on the talk pages of the main contributors of the article along with other WikiProjects. Please consider helping address the several points that I listed on the talk page of the article, which shouldn't take too long to fix if multiple editors assist in the workload. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 23:04, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Poverty Point - Image Request

Hi, would someone of you have images from Poverty Point State Historic Site? We could really need pictures of the mound(s), the rings as seen from the ground, and particularly of artifacts from the exhibition in the visitor center. Or does someone have contacts to the site administration or the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism and get them to release some pictures? Or would someone be from the north east of the state and looking for ideas how to spend tomorrow or next weekend? --h-stt !? 15:51, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] POV placement of pictures

I noticed this image gallery called "High School Views" placed in the East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools article [1] - 1. How do we know that these images are of the high school? and 2. Why only have images of them? - This looks like obvious POV so the whole gallery will go. WhisperToMe (talk) 14:45, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Need 2 volunteers

User:Steelbeard1 has said that the citation links to the specualted candidates on Louisiana's 6th congressional district special election, 2008 have become stale... I have checked the links twice and verified them but I need 1 or 2 other wikipedians to click on the links citing David Boneno, Hunter Greene, Chas Roemer, Jeff Taylor, & Mike Walker as potential candidates and then post a messae to Talk:Louisiana's 6th congressional district special election, 2008 specifically naming those five names as being cited. This will keep steelbeard from removing th enames once they actrualyy do become stale. Thanks.--Dr who1975 (talk) 02:05, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
