[edit] Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 20:37, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Created Category Malayali scientists

created category for Malayali scientists--Kathanar 08:58, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Good job! I've added it to the categories list on the portal.
On a related note, it is high time we created a few more stub categories. Category:Kerala stubs is becoming very large. We could pool in the suggestions here (examples include {{Kerala-history-stub}} or {{Kerala-politics-stub}}) and later take them to Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals for approval.--thunderboltz(Deepu) 14:54, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Created category for Sree Narayana Guru

I've created a category for Sree Narayana Guru, his influence is a movement unto itself, but has no identifying name, so I've used his name. If anyone knows a name, preferably something identifiable and specific to him, they are welcome to change the category. Thanks!--Kathanar 13:58, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Created Achayan article

A Achayan article has been created, could use help in checking over. I'm starting to look for citations, any help in that would be welcomed also--Kathanar 21:35, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Prem Nazir

Somebody moved Prem Nazir to Abdul Khader. It should be reversed as Prem Nazir is by far the better known name. Tintin 13:16, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Joy Cherian

Article on Dr. Joy Cherian created, former head of the US EEOC, anyone know what he's been up to lately? Just found some past stuff about him. --Kathanar 18:29, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Keralite americans

A category made for Keralite americans, can be even of partial descent as long as some part of the family originated from Kerala.--Kathanar 17:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Keralite americans to be "merged"

A move has been made to Merge Category:Keralite americans to Category:Indian Americans. I think that as a distinct culture region and ethnicity for centuries, there deserves to be a category citing people(americans) with any connection of origin there. If you wish to put your thoughts go to Here --Kathanar 19:59, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MD Valsamma

Article created for a great athelete of Kerala M D Valsamma

sumal 12:47, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

I think you may have to rewrite it in your words because the Ministry of Sports portal, though an Indian govt site, is not in the public domain. Tintin 15:26, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

well I have edited it to reword it and make it look better. See if you can make it better --Agεθ020 (ΔTФC) 18:23, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

I too modified it a little. Tintin 04:46, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Technopark, Kerala

The article is undergoing a featured article nomination. So, just give your opinion on it over here [1]. --Agεθ020 (ΔTФC) 22:14, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Silicon Valley Malayalis?

I remember there was a guy, I think his name was Unni Warrier, who is a CEO of a sucessful Silicon Valley Fortune 500 company. Does anyone know who that is, I wanted to do a article on him start doing other malayali businessmen, a area that doesn't get explored often for malayalis.--Kathanar 16:42, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia already has an article on him. See Unni Warrier. Is he the same person you are referring to?--thunderboltz(TALK) 14:35, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Awesome!,Thanks Deepu, I should of checked, I only just remembered today what his first name was, which I edited into the comment. O.k. , one down, now gotta find some more to go. Thanks again --Kathanar 16:01, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
 :-) Good luck!--thunderboltz(TALK) 16:10, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Category created for business

Category created for Malayali business people--Kathanar 12:47, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] V. T. Bhattathiripad

I recently came across this article, which seemed to be on the path to an AFD/speedy-delete [2], and added enough content to establish notability. Can editors more knowledgeable about the subject and with better access to related sources, assess my additions and add further content ? Thanks. Abecedare 00:58, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Malayali

A new user has added a lot of information to Malayali. He told me that since he is not that familiar with Wikipedia, there is probably a need for wikification and copyediting. I took a look at the article and I would have go through and edited it and fixed it up myself, except that I'm rather busy at work and my activities on Wikipedia are limited to performing minor edits and such. I thought I'd post this here to alert other Malayalee Wikipedians of this fact. I also propose moving the article from Malayali to Malayalee. The latter seems to be the more common spelling. --vi5in[talk] 16:23, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New better quality Athirapilly_falls picture

I have uploaded a better quality photo of Athirapilly falls. (View from below). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Athirapilly_falls_summer.jpg May be this one can be used as the title image for the articles Athirappilly_Falls and Athirapilly, where a low quality picture is used now. Sangfroid 14:51, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Malayali scientist category being CFD

The Malayali scientist category is being put up for deletion at [3]. Please participate to let your voice be known. --Kathanar 12:47, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] M.K. Menon

I have created this article who holds the record for writing the longest novel in Malayalam, Avakaasikal. I wonder if anyone could help expand it.--Agεθ020 (ΔTФC) 21:19, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Article on Dr. Kumar Bahuleyan suggested

It had been suggested to make a article on Dr. Kumar Bahuleyan. He is a neurosurgeon from Chemmanakary, Kerala who overcame great odds (came from a poor dalit background). He then turns around and donates 20 million dollars to this village to give back to the people who raised and help him. I think its a worthy piece if someone wants to pursue it. Check out this article [4] which says a little a bit about him, as well as google him.--Kathanar 16:48, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Malayalam fonts M.I.A.

Hi,

I was wondering what ever happened to Malayalam fonts since on the Malayalam pages and the Malayalam Wikipedia itself it is filled with a bunch of question marks. I have raised this issue on our WikiProject Dravidian civilizations here. Is there a way to get the Malayalam font back up and working again on Wikipedia? Wiki Raja 20:41, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Hmm? It looks as good to me as it ever did! Only problem on my computer (or maybe just browser) is that the font looks small. I find the same thing happens with the Bengali font, too. --Kuaichik 04:09, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chalachitra Academy

Chalachitra Academy is a requested article under our tasks. I created the article for the Chalachitra Academy as Kerala State Chalachitra Academy--Anoopkn (talk) 20:39, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kolath

Please check the article Kolath. Can anyone provide some accuracy of whether to keep this article or not? Earlier, I thought of nominating this to AfD, but still in search of some valuable opinions. Hence I placed expert-need tag. Thank you.--Avinesh Jose  T  04:45, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, the article does not belong on an encyclopedia. There are many other such non-encyclopedic genealogical entries from Kerala on Wikipedia. These need to go as well. In this case, much of the historical stuff given there is widely disputed too.--thunderboltz(TALK) 19:10, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New article on Vadakkanthara

Another editor created an article on Vadakkanthara. It should probably be cleaned up and expanded. --Eastmain (talk) 21:31, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

I've made an attempt. --Avinesh Jose  T  02:52, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stub article Vellimadukunnu

Another editor created an article on Vellimadukunnu without any references. It would be helpful if someone could add at least one reference to the article. --Eastmain (talk) 06:01, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bunch of Non-notable articles

A bunch of Non-notable articles with no proper references (all related to different casts in Kerala). The details are mentioned by anonymous user in Kolath’s DRV. Another list is available here also. Can anyone comment whether to keep these or nominate group deletion? I think just to mention about different casts Caste system in Kerala is ok, no seperate articles required since no sources available.
--Avinesh Jose  T  04:48, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Agree with you. All those surname pages have to go. Go ahead and afd them.--thunderboltz(TALK) 15:45, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AFD: Pakalomattom Ayrookuzhiyil

Hey guys, a user has requested more users with local knowledge (in his words: "I am requesting more authentic comments from Wikiadmins from this part of the world as they have more knowledge about the history here.") to contribute to a discussion regarding the deletion of Pakalomattom Ayrookuzhiyil and Pakalomattom, both of which are basically genealogical ancestries and other non-notable bits of unsourcable information (or, more accurately, information for which reliable sources cannot be given). Please comment on the nomination page with your response to keep or delete and please provide discussion that addresses matters raised on the page. Thanks guys, this should help to resolve things. --rm 'w avu 12:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Me as one of the main contributor to these articles Pakalomattom and Pakalomattom Ayrookuzhiyil welcome your kind inputs to this AFD discussion. Wikipedians who are interested / knowledgable on Indian / Kerala Christian history are very welcome .

[edit] WP:INDIA Tagging with TinucherianBot

TinucherianBot can automatically tag articles with {{WP India}} Banner as {{WP India|class=|importance=}} to the talk page of articles without the project banner. It can also add the workgroup paramaters like "|kerala=yes|kerala-importance=" etc ,if needed. The currently supported workgroups are Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Bengal, Goa, Himachal Pradesh , Karnataka , Punjab, cities, Cinema, Literature, Protected Areas of India, History, Politics states, Geography,Maps,Districts and Tamil.

If you need so, you need to provide me with the Categories to run the Bot. Due to some technical issues, the Bot will not run recursively to sub-categories. The requester should kindly verify that there are NO non-related articles in the category.
You may request for the bot run on my talk page... Thanks -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 06:04, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
