Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Islam:The Muslim Guild/Articles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page was created by Amibidrohi to solicit "Muslim participation" against "Jewish and Christian [editors] with axes to grind".[1]

Wikipedia should not divide editors by confession. Talk space should not be used to rally "Muslim participation" against members of other religions.Timothy Usher 01:26, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

This is a talk page to an existing article. Since when has comments on a talk page created justification for deleting an article? I've never suggested 'rallying' anyone to do anything, and certainly not AGAINST anyone else. That is your own interpretation of my intentions, which in itself is in violation of WP:AGF. I merely believe that when it comes to topics directly or indirectly relating to Islam or Muslims, those who know of these subjects can be asked to participate in improving their quality. I've stated I believe that the spirit of NPOV should be respected, and that non-muslim participation is welcome as well. I do believe certain articles have been deliberately edited to present a very limited and visible POV- that is my right to point out on the talk page. I have not advocated any action "against members of other religions", and I take strong offense to you suggesting that I have any such interest. I have not named any of the editors that I feel are pushing a POV perspective, much less encouraged any action against them. I expect that open-minded editors who read the mentioned articles would be able to figure the best approach using their own intellect and knowlege. Amibidhrohi 02:24, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

WP:SPAM states, "Don't attempt to sway consensus by encouraging participation in a discussion by people that you already know have a certain point of view." This guild exists, it would seem, solely to make such spam more convenient by allowing you to post it in only one place, knowing full well what the breakdown of editors is likely to be (in case the very name of this Guild isn't a giveaway, editors are broken down by religion on the main page), and as your diff shows, this is exactly what you intended.
This was also seen in the last Joturner RfA, in which, following advertisement of the RfA to the Guild page, those members who showed unanimously voted to support their fellow member's nomination.
The type of "participation" we can expect from such spamming is aptly illustrated here [2] - a revert with the enlightened summary, "Amibidrohi's version is better".
Wikipedia is no place for "Muslim solidarity", or indeed any solidarity along religious, ethnic or political lines. This guild should simply not exist, but most especially this page should not exist, according to the reason Amibidrohi has given for creating it[3], by the material posted below, and the nature of the "contributions" it has solicited thusfar, as shown above.Timothy Usher 04:31, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Let the record show that Amibidhrohi had removed the delete tag in an attempt to foreclose discussion[4]Timothy Usher 06:17, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Articles That Need To Be Seriously Looked At

I've noticed a rather extreme and deliberate effort by a group of editors (and a few administrators) to promote a negative image of Islam. Several articles are weighed down with highly partisan sources from known Islamophobes, without any effort to maintain neutrality by balancing perspectives with opposing ones. Articles relating to Islam and Muslims, directly or indirectly, have been systematically subject to these group attacks. I'd advise people to look at the following articles for now and participate in editing to bring them into balance. Feel free to add more articles to this list:

It should be noted that all editors should maintain the spirit of NPOV. I am merely urging people to use their knowlege of Islam, and of subject matters where Islam or Muslims are involved, to make articles reflect an academically and intellectually credible quality. In my opinion, the articles right now are loaded with information deliberately placed to present Muslims and Islam in the most negative possible light. This request isn't just directed towards Muslims, but to anyone interested in making articles on these subjects truly neutral in their portrayal of the matter. Amibidhrohi 01:10, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

So, you're unrepentant, and quoting WP:SPAM, which expressly prohibits you from doing what you're doing, makes no impression upon you. Apparently, the guideline must simply be enforced if you continue to ignore it. Pecher Talk 18:05, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
