[edit] Questions of purview

What to tag? TCP/IP protocols that are of use on the interwebs proper (ie other than DHCP-style protocols that are only used on local isolated networks) are fairly obvious candidates to be dealt with here. Web boom/bust businesses and web 2.x businesses & certain Internet appliances, NGOs like IETF, ARPA, etc. seem to fit well here, as do. Seems to me like some overlap with the Computer networking WP would do more good than harm, but to try to duplicate the efforts of Wikipedia:WikiProject Internet culture would have us drowning in pirates and ninjas. Thoughts? Other areas underserved?MrZaiustalk 14:52, 14 September 2007 (UTC)PS: Businesses like Google etc seem to be covered by Internet culture, and it might be nice to maintain a slightly more technical and organizational scope here.

Category:Generic top-level domains & Category:CENTR members probably need in. Is it normal to use bots to populate initially? Between those and Category:Internet standards & their daughter cats, that's already several hundred articles that fall under our purview but not many other technically focused groups. [edit] Proposed deletion: DeskBrowse

I think that perhaps software used to interact with the internet, either for content retrieval or content distribution, would perhaps fall within the scope of this WikiProject, in which case other related WikiProjects might be Wikipedia:WikiProject Software and Wikipedia:WikiProject Free software.

[edit] Navigational box

There is good information in the articles on the Internet, World Wide Web, and in related articles. Hard to peruse them all or understand what is there. I suggest that a navigational box is needed, but how to order (classify articles) it and what articles to include (and, much worse, not include!) is a real problem. Right now, a naive researcher (me, except I was trained in the industry) has to blunder about a lot of links, and see alsos to find information. Student7 (talk) 13:34, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
