Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hong Kong/Requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, I wish to add 喊驚 to the request list. I think it is part of history in HK; it is still practiced by the old people and the term itself is still used in general speech. For example, in the movie Shaolin Soccer, after Stephen Chow sing that crazy song in the restaurant with Wong Yut Fei, the triad members said the following:

「你 地 唱 咩 呀 ? 唱 到 喊 驚 咁 !!」 「啲 歌 詞 又 鬼 五 馬 六 !!」

Some background info: 喊驚 is the "chinese magic" that people do to clam people who have been suprised / shocked, e.g. a car crashes into the wall in front of him, etc. I think it is some kind of chinese rituals or spells to summon's the guy's 三魂七魄, which are scared away by the suprise.
