[edit] Transliteration
Scanning my watchlist this morning (which is really all I have time to do anymore, sorry yall :( ) I see that User:Sparky-sama has gone around to every Final Fantasy-related page and changed the given transliteration from the Japanese names for the titles from Fantaji to Fantazii. I know transliteration can sometimes be a subjective thing, but I figure there was probably a reason "Fantaji" was picked. Just wanted to give yall a heads-up so you can decide what to do. :) Sorry I'm not around more, I just don't have the time I used to, but I hit my watchlist a few times a day and fix what I find there... RaCha'ar 14:34, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. It's definitely supposed to be Fantajī. Ryu Kaze 15:03, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, I've reverted the changes and left a message on Sparky's page. Thanks again, RaCha'ar. Ryu Kaze 15:28, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- You're welcome. :) RaCha'ar 17:38, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's actually supposed to be "zii." "Ji" is just an Amreican spelling of it. It's one of those things about the Japanese language that's wierd. "Sh" is supposed to be "Si," "Ch" is supposed to be "Ti," "Ts" is supposed to be "Tu". If you need an example its "konnitii-wa," not "konnichiwa." There are some others, but I forget what they are. I've taken a semester of Japanese, so I know what I'm talking about. There is no "j," "ch," "sh," or "ts" sound on a Japanese mora chart. Crazyswordsman 18:23, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- I don't doubt you. But why is "Fainaru Fantajī" the more accepted spelling? (Fainaru Fantajī gets 17,400 google hits versus one hit for Fainaru Fantazii.) --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 18:32, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- The katakana form of the title uses a character most often represented in the latin alphabet with the ji spelling. Ji is a perfectly valid transliteration, actually, and the most common one. If this were romaji we'd be using sy or zi; anything that conveyed the Japanese sound with latin characters. Ryu Kaze 21:48, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Wikipedia uses a modified Hepburn, so if you've been taught that, I'm sorry but this is what Wikipedia uses. urutapu 22:54, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Urutapu's right. Hepburn romanization is used on Wikipedia; the Kunrei-shiki form would use zi and is the de jure form for Japan, but the de facto form used in Japan is the Revised Hepburn, and so it's the one recognized here. It's the one used most of the time for good reason too. Look at the term "SOLDIER" from FFVII. In katakana, that's ソルジャー. If we were to romanize that under one of the systems, and chose Hepburn, we'd get SORUJ
YĀ. Under Kunrei-shiki we'd get SORUZYĀ. While I personally am not a big fan of the idea of following any of the romaji systems to the letter -- simply because we end up with instances like this, geting SORUJYĀ and Fantajī instead of SORUJYĀ and Fantazī -- I do think Hepburn is the better of the two. I personally just follow the concept of romaji: representing Japanese sounds with latin characters. The only system I follow is what I call "The one that actually simulates the Japanese sounds," in which case I'd still get SORUJYĀ and Fantazī, but people are more comfortable with standardized systems than they are standardized concepts, so we're stuck with Fantajī, despite how it's pronounced (just listen to this Dirge of Cerberus trailer for instance; zī is the sound used, but that is not how it would be transliterated based on the Hepburn system). We all know what it's saying anyway, and I imagine most people would too. Ryu Kaze 23:47, 2 May 2006 (UTC)- And, to go off your example, it would be "sorujā" (not "sorujyā") according to Manual of Style (Japan-related articles). (^_^) --日本穣 Nihonjoe 00:10, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right. Thank you. Forgot that I was looking at the little ya. Ryu Kaze 01:59, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Angelo and Ultimecia have pages
Should we merge them? with other pages? Crazyswordsman 23:39, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, we should. Angelo's not notable enough to have his own page even if his article wasn't a stub, and the Ultimecia page has been merged into the List of Final Fantasy VIII characters twice now, only for Ceptizzy to un-merge it both times, and by unilateral decision. He was actually approached the last time about offering reasoning for un-merging it, but he never elected to discuss it with any of us. Therefore, on principle alone, it should be re-merged. I'm going to merge them both right now. Ryu Kaze 23:45, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, it's done. Someone had taken most of the valuable information out of Ultimecia's section on the List of Final Fantasy VIII characters page, so perhaps that led to the un-merging of Ultimecia's article. Who knows. Anyway, I've restored the valuable info to Ultimecia's section, but worded it a lot better, and have re-merged the articles. I've also tossed Angelo in there. Ryu Kaze 00:06, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] An idea I came up with
Seeing the Mythology of Final Fantasy X and List of Final Fantasy VII terms articles made me want to start a similar project for (obviously) Final Fantasy VI. However, I do not want to start it unless someone seconds the idea. Crazyswordsman 04:55, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- I really like the idea, I even thought during the FFVI peer review that it would be good to put information about mythical elements of the game, but at that time there were no articles particularly reserved for this. Now that it has been done for FFX, why not for FFVI? If we can make a coherent article with all the necessary references with NPOV problem, I'd like it.--DarkEvil 22:56, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've gotten started on it. You can view its progress here. Feel free to edit it. Crazyswordsman 23:35, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Final Fantasy V Manbo de Chocobo
I don't know if I should put a heading just for this one, but it's a great way to catch your attention. It's just a little problem, not that big really. First, could someone please confirm the romanization we should use on wikipedia for this one: ファイナルフファイナルファンタジーV マンボ-de-チョコボV マンボ-de-チョコボ, if I'm not mistaken and if Urutapu is not mistaken, it should be Fainaru Fantajī V: Manbo -de- Chocobo. And, I would like to know, if an album has never been released in english, would you still put the album name translated in english as the name of the album at the top of the article, or would you follow the original in Japanese. It's because I changed from Mambo de Chocobo (english equivalent) to ファイナルフファイナルファンタジーV マンボ-de-チョコボV マンボ-de-チョコボ(Fainaru Fantajī V: Manbo -de- Chocobo) since this was only released under this name, but Urutapu changed it back to Final Fantasy V: Mambo de Chocobo with explanation: "read the Romanization rules. And it's obviously Mambo de Chocobo...dear God, I even put a literal Romanization in the nihongo template...". I don't want to question his way, I just want someone else's point of view on the matter, being which name should be used for an album unreleased in english.--DarkEvil 23:07, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, the Romanization part was the about the fact you kept reverting it to "Fantajii" and not "Fantajī". And I just find the fact it's "Mambo" so glaringly obvious--"manbo" is a perfect transliteration, and well...just look at the cover. And a piano arrangement of "Mambo de Chocobo" is on Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY V. The first printing of the Piano Collections albums included the matching sheet music, and sometimes English names as well; see the first page of the "Mambo de Chocobo" arrangement. —urutapu 13:35, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, ok that's good. I know about the romanization part, I just followed your comment later and checked to see that you were right about double vowels being written as ī for ii and ē for ee, etc. So the romanization part is ok, I understand my mistake. I too find it obvious that's it's mambo, not only obvious but certain, it's just that I didn't know if we should put the english name when the album was never officially translated. Maybe we could mention that although the litteral translation would be Mambo de Chocobo, the album was never officially released under an english name.--DarkEvil 21:50, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Polymorphic content reigns supreme: Final Fantasy XIII unveiled
Hey, guys. I thought I'd let anyone who didn't know that Square Enix's pre-E3 show has ended, and they've now announced that not just Final Fantasy XIII is in production for the PS3, but also that a sequel to it is in production (also for the PS3) and that a prequel is in production (for mobile phones). Furthermore, they've offered new info on the GBA versions of Final Fantasy V and VI (though apparently not much), the remake of Final Fantasy III for the Dual Screen (it's coming to the west), and they even had the first real trailer of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. There's also another mobile game called "Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode" in production. Fasten your seat belts people; looks like we're in for a wild ride for the next few years. Ryu Kaze 23:59, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- You forgot to mention that Seiken Densetsu 4 ("Dawn of Mana") was unveiled as well, heh. In my opinion, this and FFXIII are the two most important things at the demo. Crazyswordsman 00:24, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out. I honestly didn't pay attention to anything other than the Final Fantasy announcements. XD There was also word on a Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime game for anyone who's interested in that. Ryu Kaze 00:29, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like there's also going to be two new Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles titles: Ring of Fates for the DS and The Crystal Bearers for the Wii. Ryu Kaze 01:11, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, also a Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors game. Ryu Kaze 02:26, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikibooks turns their back...
Basically, for those (like me) who don't follow the news, a bit of weird news - Wikibooks is now suddenly saying "please no more C&VG guides, and if you have any here, please take them away". Wikibooks game guides are apparently slowly being transwikied to StrategyWiki. FF7 wikibook got transwikied yesterday (well, apart of templates, a couple of subpages, and images, I hope they will follow).
So what else can I say - prepare for some linkfixing if you have any references to Wikibooks guides... --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 12:29, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- This has actually been coming for a long time. I did try to warn people some months ago. Strategy guides aren't textbooks and will be removed from wikibooks in the future. (The jokebook was removed at around the same time.) Another possible transwiki location is the Final Fantasy Wiki. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 12:31, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, just that, as the post above says, I'm not following much news. =) But the point is, the transwikiing is happening right now and the changes will be needed very soon, so people, please stay sharp. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 13:08, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Aye, Aye. :) --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 13:10, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- I actually have desgins for an FFVI walkthrough on the FF Wiki once I get done with the FFVI bestiary over there. You're more than welcome to move that there. Crazyswordsman 14:05, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

- Hmmm... The FFX and FFX2 game stuff that is in Wikibooks is pretty lame anyway, so it won't be missed. I wonder if they will want me to transwiki my Illustrated Guide to the world of Spira which was never a strategy guide, more like a resource for fan fiction writers. No skin off my back, I had realized that Wikibooks was an iffy place to post material to so now I have my own Wiki Renmiri 15:38, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- You can transwiki that to my wiki too if you'd like. Since my knowledge on the nuts and bolts of FFX is really bad compared to that of FFIV or FFVI, and the only people who edit FFX pages there are fanboys who can't write properly, the addition is necessary. Crazyswordsman 01:44, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Will do! Is it the Wikicities FF Wiki ? Renmiri 14:54, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anyone got the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly?
Issue 204 that is. Supposedly (on page 76) there's supposed to be "confirmation" of a FFVII remake, despite SE having said nothing about it during their pre-E3 show. I've seen a couple of people claim this, and since I'm not wanting to make a trip tonight just to buy a magazine that I probably wouldn't otherwise want, I'm taking the lazy, cost-effective route and seeing if any of you guys have it and can tell me if there's any such statement. Even if there is, though, it's obviously a lie. A Japanese game developer is not going to have a group of North American journalists announce something like that for them when they could do it themselves a few days later at the biggest game show in the world.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this. Ryu Kaze 00:03, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- This source states that EGM's interview on the the remake says it is not likely as long as Final Fantasy XIII is the next title on PlayStation 3. ~ Hibana 00:56, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Hibana, but that was from last September/October. Issue 196, I believe. I think the people who wrote what I read were lying because EGM would totally have that all over their website if they were the only ones to have that kind of information. Thanks again for the attempt. Ryu Kaze 01:13, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- If it is true, I'll have to begin gnawing my legs off, heh. Crazyswordsman 01:38, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- If it's not true, I'd suggest merging the Final Fantasy VII technical demo article into Final Fantasy VII under a header, like "PlayStation 3 technical demo." It was introduced at E3 last year, it's kind of old news, and it's just a video clip; why not make it more accessable anyway? ~ Hibana 01:45, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed, Hibana. By the way, CS, I wouldn't worry about losing your legs anytime soon. Ryu Kaze 02:17, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

I found a scan of the page in question:

It's obviously another attempt by EGM to sell more magazines. Not only do they not cite a source here, and not only has SE denied that any such project was in production, but even if they had started last March when they got the PS3 development kit, it would be absolutely impossible for them to have something like that ready before 2009, mustless by the end of 2007 (Kitase even said it would take five years, and that was just a rough estimate). Especially with all the other things that they are actually working on right now. Ryu Kaze 13:38, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Final Fantasy X: Featured Article
Final Fantasy X is now a featured article. I'll update the main project pages. Good work everyone! ~ Hibana 05:02, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Woot! Congratulations to everyone who worked hard on that page. It's an excellent game worthy of an excellent article. -- CHANLORD [T]/[C] 05:23, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

- Flooch, don't forget to compliment yourself too. Great work to you and everybody involved (yes, I'm congratulating me too... I will have this moment and no one will stop me!), including Deckiller and Hibana. I know you told me that it couldn't have been done without me, but I don't think it could have been done without any of you either.
- There were times when I drew a blank, but one of you others would show up and knew just what to do. It was great being a team with you guys on this. In conclusion: GO TEAM! Ryu Kaze 14:44, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks :) And outstanding work guys! Ryu, Hibana, Flooch, Remiri, and Crazyswordsman, and anyone else involved with the article that I forgot ;D. What's up next, FFVIII or IX? :)
- Not sure, Deck. This one was one hell of a ride. XD Whenever we get up for it, I'd suggest VI , VII or VIII, though, simply because I imagine most of us are more familiar with -- and more interested in -- those. Thanks for the compliment, by the way, and congrats to you as well. Ryu Kaze 22:25, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'd say do VI next, so we can get an older game up there as well. Then VII, then IV, then either VIII or IX, then V, then whichever of VIII or IX we didn't do, then the original. This isn't the order I like the games in, I just think its a good, well-balanced order. Unfortunately, VI does not have an Ultimania (sniff), or something like the Chrono Compendium (another sniff). It DOES, however, have Caves of Narshe, of which I am a member. Maybe I'll put a team together and help out, because I REALLY want to see VI and IV featured, and I'm sure VII deserves it as well. I know everyone's involvement was important, but I want to congratulate Ryu for his amazing work while I was gone from Wikipedia some months ago up to today. I think you made this possible, especially because of your belief in the project.--DarkEvil 21:35, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot, DarkEvil. I appreciate that. And admittedly, I did take the Peer Review and FAC process very personally. I probably dominated those discussions, and apologies to anybody if I did. XD I do take it as a personal victory, but I also know that I would have never pulled it off alone. This is a victory for the FF WikiProject as a whole. Ryu Kaze 22:30, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Final Fantasy XI characters
I just added a cleanup tag and a WPFF:Review tag to this article in an effort to attract some attention to some of the outstanding issues I see on it. I wanted to leave a note here as well as the review and to-do pages too (hope that's okay!). Please pop over to the talk page to have a look at my comments on it, and offer your opinions if you have a minute to look over the article. If you don't play FFXI I'd really like you to look to give an objective opinion on some of the things. Thanks guys :) -RaCha'ar 16:38, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII technical demo articles: are they really necessary?
As Hibana mentioned the other day, there's really not a lot of point in the tech demo page. It wasn't a preview of a remake or any such thing, so it really serves no purpose other than to keep Final Fantasy VII info spread out. And the Compilation page is pretty much made pointless by the navigation boxes at the bottom of each Final Fantasy VII article. I think both of these should be merged into the main Final Fantasy VII page, with the tech demo getting its own section of the page, and with the Compilation section being expanded slightly if need be. Thoughts? Ryu Kaze 19:06, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I believe both of these can be placed in the main Final Fantasy VII article. In fact, the tech demo can easily be slid in, while the Compilation can simply be removed since it's already in the FFVII page. It'll make the length comparable to the Final Fantasy X article. ~ Hibana 19:21, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- That's what I think too, really. Pretty much all the info from the Compilation page is already there, I think. The Compilation page is basically just redundant of everything there while also serving as a redundant navigation point. Ryu Kaze 19:41, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'll go ahead and add the merge tags while we wait for more comments. ~ Hibana 19:44, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think merging Compilation of Final Fantasy VII is really logic, since this is only a project's name, not a game on its own, and all information about it can have its place in the Final Fantasy VII article. I wasn't certain about the tech demo, but since Square Enix don't seem to do anything more with it, I'd say it can be merged too while we can still hope it becomes an official remake.--DarkEvil 21:39, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, technically, Final Fantasy VII itself is part of the compilation, not the other way around. I'd just like to point that out. Axem Titanium 22:32, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- True, but all the other media sprang directly from Final Fantasy VII, which was already in existance. This is unlike Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII which was announced as a compilation consisting of Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. ~ Hibana 22:39, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly. Final Fantasy XIII is itself being presented as but one story within that universe. With the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, each title had to somehow tie directly back to Final Fantasy VII, which was a pre-existing title. Also, again, all the info on the Compilation page is already on the Final Fantasy VII page. The only way one could argue that the Compilation page should remain is if they argued that Final Fantasy VII should be merged into it, which isn't a logical course of action for obvious reasons. Ryu Kaze 22:52, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I support the merge. Compilation is redundant and could be merged or even redirected depending on how much detail you guys want to retain. As Hibana said, the tech demo article can be easily inserted as a separate section in VII.
- P.S. The mention of a PS2 SGI/tech demo for VI and VIII is intriguing. Is there additional info on these? ~ Flooch 04:05, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- See Final Fantasy VI: The Interactive CG Game for the only additional Final Fantasy VI demo. I'm not aware of anything else. ~ Hibana 04:14, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- That's the only one. The Final Fantasy VI tech demo was for N64-comparable hardware, and the Final Fantasy VIII tech demo was for PS2. Ryu Kaze 12:17, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've merged in the technical demo article in the Subsequent appearances section of Final Fantasy VII. It seems someone saved me the trouble of removing the remake controversty already. If you still feel it needs its own article, revert me and explain why. ~ Hibana 23:36, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Ryu Kaze 22:52, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- True, but all the other media sprang directly from Final Fantasy VII, which was already in existance. This is unlike Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII which was announced as a compilation consisting of Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. ~ Hibana 22:39, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Concerning Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode -Final Fantasy VII-
Does anyone think that the creation of this might have been slightly premature? It's being advertised as but an additional chapter within Dirge of Cerberus' narrative. It may not prove to be very long at all and may really belong on the Dirge of Cerberus page.
The only reason I really bring it up is that I believe in proper categorization and don't see much use in these Dirge pages being spread out unless Lost Episode is as long as Before Crisis, which it doesn't look like it's going to be. I know Wikipedia's not a crystal ball and all that, but since it's only being advertised as a small sidestory taking place within the timeframe of Dirge of Cerberus, I don't really think we should treat it as though it's a major title to itself. Do I have a valid point here or am I just being too much of a mergist today? Ryu Kaze 13:26, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mythology of Final Fantasy X and the Spira article
I'm a big fan of both of these articles and I realise that they both serve different purposes with one, Spira, purely about the different locations depicted in the game and the other (Mythology) about the history and Mythology of the fictional world. Reading through both articles, since there is so much overlap between the two(for instance a large section of the Mythology of Final Fantasy X goes over the history of Spira) I think that one of two scenerios would be appropriate. One, that both articles be merged together into Spira (Final Fantasy) and the structure of the existing page be reworked in order to detail not only the locations in the game, but the history, myths and religions within Spira (Must like an article about a real world country). Or two, the Mythology of Final Fantasy X page to be reworked and moved to Spira (Final Fantasy) and the existing Spira (Final Fantasy) page be moved to List of locations in Final Fantasy X or List of locations in Spira. What do you think? -- CHANLORD [T]/[C] 04:37, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Support the move of Mythology to Spira, and the move of the existing Spira page to List of locations in Final Fantasy X or List of locations in Spira (I have no preferences as to which). Though people in the past have pointed out that a list of locations for X should be entitled Spira as it is a commonly searched term, I believe we can eliminate any confusion by simply including a "Main article:" link. The move will also cater to the description of other Spiran topics, such as sports and demographics. ~ Flooch 05:13, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Support the move of Mythology of Final Fantasy X to Spira (Final Fantasy), and the move of Spira (Final Fantasy X) to List of locations in Spira. I think the move of the Mythology article to Spira makes the page more general about the world of Final Fantasy X, so the article can be about mythology as well as the other topics of Spira. As for the move of the location article, since the main article would be called Spira, it seems logic to call it List of locations in Spira rather than List of locations in Final Fantasy X. On a side note, I know that this move is enough for right now, but when the
time comes, maybe we should consider creating pages like these for other games (for instance, we know that the world of Final Fantasy VII is called Gaia, so it would be Gaia (Final Fantasy VII) and List of locations in Gaia (Final Fantasy VII) since VII in not the only one with Gaia), and for Final Fantasy VI although I can't remember if they say the planet's name.
-
- I don't think we'll exactly need a "Sports" section (considering that Spira has all of one), but it probably would be the best thing to make the moves Flooch mentioned. "The history of Spira" could remain a section title, with "Spira's past" and "Spira in the present day" as sub-sections. And then "Pyreflies and Spheres" -- along with "Fayth and aeons" -- could become sub-sections under a "Mythology of Spira" or "Magic in Spira" section. Finally, "The temples of Yevon" could become a "Religion" section.
- As Flooch mentioned, to prevent the page from becoming too long, the locations could be moved to a List of locations in Spira page (I like this name more), with a link back to the main Spira page. One thing, though, guys: this is going to mean a lot of broken links across the X and X-2 pages. A lot. So, Flooch, I'm counting on you to help me fix them again. Ryu Kaze 12:42, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- I like those suggestions Ryu. If it the proposal gets the green light, I'll gladly help. Chanlord, please allow us time to pre-emptively fix broken links in the what links here pages, if we go ahead with this move/rename. ~ Flooch 13:10, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Funny, I did my wikibook Illustrated Guide to the world of Spira with exactly this idea on mind: Treat Spira as a country, with culture, religion, geography... I thought it was way too detailed for Wikipedia though. I'd hate to see two GPA pages messed up... I vote neutral, to let majority decide, but I don't like the idea much, at least here at Wikipedia Renmiri 15:02, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- What happens here should be a good indication of what I should do with the Terminology of Final Fantasy VI page I'm working on, since this is intended to be a parallel of this. Crazyswordsman 15:48, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Glad you liked the suggestion, Flooch. By the way, be sure to get the "What links here" list for the Mythology page, as well. We're going to have one hell of a time fixing this stuff up if it happens.
- Renmiri, I understand your concern with changing Good Articles, but, really, since the content will remain almost the same with only title changes, they should both remain Good Articles. I'm not concerned about their quality going down; it's us, after all. Ryu Kaze 19:05, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I think the articles are better the way they are. Why merge them? There's no point to it. ⇒ JarlaxleArtemis 03:37, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- They're both definitely good, but it really would kind of make more sense for these changes to be made. At least based on how the articles are named. As mentioned before, it would really only be a change in article names. The content would remain almost identical. Ryu Kaze 12:19, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Why not start doing it? I did a little beta try to se how it could be. From the Mythology page you could take the whole history thingy to the Spira article, and place it in between Designing Spira and Locations. The rest of the Mythology could go after the locations. Then you have a good article who is like a real country. Horewer, it needs a lot of work, and the page got up to 65 kB. Sjalvastefan
- We're not doing it yet so that we can wait for more feedback. Another day or two would probably be long enough. Personally, I think the page would be too long if the two pages were just merged, by the way. Ryu Kaze 20:55, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'll probably start on it tonight. ~ Flooch 00:01, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yikes!! Well, Ryu thinks it might be good so I'm not voting against it. Flooch, can you make all changes in a Sandbox and let us see the new page before you actually move it ? Just so we can all pitch in to get the new page in shape, before it is actually "live"... It will avoid those table "a", "b", "c", "d" hickups we had in the past... Renmiri 14:39, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Terminology of Final Fantasy VI page version 1.0. More stuff will be added when I get more ideas in my head. Help me by adding ideas of your own. Crazyswordsman 16:17, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deckiller's back
Hey guys, I'm back (hopefully for good)! I'm hoping to improve FFIX in the style of FFX, and if you want to help a bit, feel free, but I'd like to come back with a bang during the next week or two :) — Deckiller 19:08, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Welcome back! Now stay, damn you. Ryu Kaze 23:41, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Long time no see, welcome back. I am also back like I was before (at least one year ago), so the articles should advance if we don't slack off!--DarkEvil 18:01, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Departing soon
Hey guys. I just thought I'd let you all know that after the 26th, I'm not going to be here, probably at all. See, I'm getting offered more money to teach an extra class this fall, and well... we could really use the money. XD My wife and I live with her parents, and I use her brother's secondhand computer. I'm going to take a vacation at the first of the month (probably spending more money there than we should, but, hell, we could both use the vacation while the Summer's still on), and when I come back, I'm going to be focused on getting ready for this fall, and spending what's left of the Summer with my family.
I just wanted to tell you guys in advance that it's been a pleasure -- and an honor -- to work with you all, and that I've been very proud of what we've achieved (*looks at the tons of Good Articles, all the references that've been added to pages, and our beloved Final Fantasy X Featured Article*). I'll try to stop by whenever I really have a chance. I'm going to be avoiding the internet for the most part, though, just to make sure I allocate my time where it's most important: with my family. This hobby has been very fun, and I know I've not been here all that long, but I hope I've made an impact and helped you guys in your quest. It really is your quest, because all of you -- well, except Flooch, I guess -- have been here longer than me.
I'd also like to thank all of you for how welcoming you were. I was joining somebody else's party when I came in here, but you guys have always treated me like I was here from the start. I haven't gotten to know all of you, but I count all of you as comrades. That said, some of you have certainly had a huge impact on me, and I want to thank you all for it (including those of you who are no longer present):
- Renmiri — No offense intended to anybody else, but, Ren, you're probably my nearest and dearest here. I've had a lot of great discussions with you and you've always made an effort to share your FFX media with me and have included me in so many things outside of Wikipedia. You also have always been eager to learn whatever I could teach you about Final Fantasy X and X-2, and, hey, for an actual teacher, that's very validating and I appreciate it. You're also the one who inspired me to do a lot of my translations, which I had a lot of fun doing and learned a lot from. You've been so nice and welcoming to me from the very start, and I just want to say thanks for everything, Ren. By the way, your inspiring essay on what Final Fantasy X meant to you struck a chord in me somehow. Maybe because of what my family means to me. Because of that, I was all the more determined that Final Fantasy X reach Featured Article status. I dedicate my edits to that page and my share in that FA achievement to you. I hope I helped make a great page for you.
- Deckiller — Tyler, Tyler, Tyler. How time has flown, huh? I learned a lot from you, and I've absolutely loved working with you, man. We turned so many pages into awesome stuff, didn't we? Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy Magic... the list goes on. Thanks a lot for all you taught me, and for being my back-up when I needed it.
- Flooch — Flooooooch. What can I say? You've been back-up when I needed it too. Though we haven't always agreed on things, I always knew that when I hit a dead-end when trying to fix up a page, the gears in your head would still be turning and everything would suddenly click. Thanks for everything.
- Hibana — You've always been a great editor, Hibana. Wherever there was a stupid edit... you were there to restore sensibility. When there was vandalism... you were there with the duct tape and glue. Where there was chaos... you brought order. Where there was... well, you get the idea... you've really been great. Another great "back-up" person, though you're more of a wild card. You come in unexpectedly, gracefully... gently even... entering like a dove, but striking like a tidal wave (yeah, that's the [bad?] English teacher in me talking XD). It's been a pleasure. By the way, I'm counting on you to stem the tide of "Tifa has brown eyes, black hair, and unnaturally large boobs" edits. XD
- Mirlen — Mirlen, you've been real nice to me, and I want you to be aware that I appreciate it. You designed me the most kick-ass userpage and talk page on Wikipedia, and I absolutely love it. Thank you so much for being such a nice person. You're totally awesome.
- Seancdaug — I respect how you carried yourself while you were here. Your presence has been missed, I assure you. You taught me a lot in how to strive for quality here, and were the one who inspired me to add all those references a while back (every story-related FFX and FFVII page got references, in case you're wondering what I mean). Not sure if they've been vandaled out or not on some pages... I've been afraid to look at the character pages lately... don't want to get obsessed and frustrated. Anyway, thanks for all of that, Sean. I dedicate all my "added references" edits to you.
- PiccoloNamek — It's appropriate that I mention you last, man, because you were the one who inspired me to join Wikipedia because of your Spira page (which looks soon to be renamed "List of locations in Spira" or "List of Final Fantasy X locations"). I absolutely loved the page and hoped to be able to contribute something of that quality to the FFWikiProject. I hope I've not disappointed. You also inspired me to understand that I don't have to take the editing too seriously, which was a good lesson. I hate that it was a difficult one for you to impart to me because of how difficult it was for you to learn it yourself, and though it was something you taught to me indirectly, I appreciate it all the same. Good luck with the future, man.
- Everybody else — Thanks for the comraderie, the advice, assistance, and support. It's been an honor to be part of your project.
In time, I'm sure you guys will forget me a little, but I'd like to ask one favor. Okay, three. Please look after my userpage for me (XD), the Final Fantasy X article, and the Mythology of Final Fantasy X/Spira article(s). Ok, a fourth thing: PLEASE, for the love of all that is good, get rid of any Final Fantasy VII remake rumor edits that show up (like this one). The last thing the world needs is people running around saying "It's on Wikipedia, so it must be true!" even in the face of "Square Enix has said it won't be happening anytime soon!" and common sense.
Anyway, thanks again to everyone, and good luck to you with the future of this project, and all your futures. Ryu Kaze 03:38, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Goodbye. Thanks for all the support you've given me with my articles. I'm going to need a new mentor now, heh. Crazyswordsman 12:18, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- See you, CS. You're welcome man, and good luck with all your future work. I'm glad to have been able to mentor you. XD Ryu Kaze 13:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Ahhh, Wikipedia won't be the same for me without you. I wish you well in your real life! Buzz me on my talk page if you'd ever like to chat! ~ Flooch 12:43, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks a lot, Flooch. ^_^ I'll try to stop by sometime. Ryu Kaze 13:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I am going to miss your exceptional level of work and amazing energy so much :( I hope we can use your wonderful contribs as a mental boost and a very solid foundation. Thanks a lot for all the contribs and kind words, Mr. Sinclair! — Deckiller 21:29, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- You're very welcome, Tyler, and thanks a lot for everything from you, as well. Take care, man. Ryu Kaze 02:20, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Geez, I didn't even realize this was here until today. Ehhh, you'll be back eventually, once things in your life settle down. :) We've had others leave and return before. Anyway, thanks for everything. Helping us with the FFX feature before you leave is like giving our project a new life (Materia combo: Final Attack + Phoenix). Take care, Ryu. ~ Hibana 21:37, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- If I was able to help out that much, then I'm very glad to have done so. ^_^ If time and opportunity permits it, I will return, but for now, this might be it. :( Instead of "goodbye," let's leave it at "good journey" then. Thanks again for everything, and good jorney to you. Ryu Kaze 02:20, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Awww.. As everyone says above, we will all miss you a lot, me included. You just taught me so much! And not just about Final Fantasy canon ;-) But it is for a really good cause, family and real life come first, so I won't complain much. Don't worry, I will take care of your user page like I take care of the Blitzball page (just joking Flooch!) and the other pages we worked will also be taken care off. Do keep in touch if you can, if only to remember old editing war stories Renmiri 03:38, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I'll try, Ren, and thanks for offering to look after those things. ^_^ I'm real glad to have helped you out, and I appreciate all you gave me too. I'll try to keep in touch. Ryu Kaze 02:20, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I will miss you, although we don't know each other a lot because I just recently came back for real (I was one of the original members of the project and worked really a lot during months but I left one day nearly without notice). After all, you along with others are responsible for our first main series featured article and you put references to a lot of articles and I know this was not easy, and I don't know exactly the full scale of your work, but I promise to try to compensate in wait for your return.--DarkEvil 18:23, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for the kind words and the promise. I appreciate it. Ryu Kaze 19:11, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, guys, this is it. I just got my issue of EDGE magazine where they reviewed Final Fantasy X, so my last gift was adding some more critical response info on that. It's been a pleasure, guys. Be well. Ryu Kaze 19:13, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
